It looks like the head of that bass is way bigger than goes with the body. If the body matched the head that fish would be twice as big. We catch some after the spawn sometimes that are real skinny in relation to their head. If they were fat like they should be the 3 pounders we catch would be 5+ pounds easy. Your pic. reminds me of those. Did it look like that to you in person? Maybe it just looks different in the pic. Nice fish no matter what. Congrats.

Over populated, and stunted. Usually causes big heads and smaller bodies than what a normal fish would have in relation to head size.

Yeah, I agree. That's what I think also. If you eat fish, those are the bodies of water that you should keep the fish you catch so the others can get bigger. Keep the smaller eatin sized ones and release the bigger ones. Then they keep getting bigger.

You can never catch a 5 or 6 pounder if you don't throw the 3 pounders back.

The fact that the bigger fish bite as the storm approaches is the reason so many fishermen get caught in the lightning storms we were talking about on another post. They just can leave cuz the fishin gets so good

Yep, At that time I was fishing a small private lake that belong to a friend so I was able to drive around the lake which gave me cover when it got bad. If there was any static or lightning I would give it up pretty quick. Had a friend that got hit by lightning and lived but he was never the same so I pay attention to the weather.

I think there is some fish in my pond. But they're definitely not overpopulated. In the last 3 months I have probably caught 30 fish. Most of the same size about a pound and a half. I now no that there is bigger fish in the 5 lb range in this pond. And a few bigger than that. I do not know if any of these 30 fish I have caught more than once. I don't know if a fish won't eat the same crankbait after it's been caught once on it already? Because I generally use my go to jig to fish everything with. I am now starting to use rubber worms to change it up.
