Well hello everyone again. Haven't been on site in a while because there has really been no action on the Bass or catfish scene to report from Texas. I am still fishing everyday but even the bites are hard to come by. But I caught one of those I was telling you about! Caught him today. And yes on my ultralight with 6 lb test for you doubters. He hit my favorite electric chicken color quarter ounce crappie jig. It was a good fight with him stripping some line and me nursing hi,m to shore. But I got him! This is the smaller one out of the two that I lost in my work pond. He lives to swim another day.

That would make a good book title.

It looks like the head of that bass is way bigger than goes with the body. If the body matched the head that fish would be twice as big. We catch some after the spawn sometimes that are real skinny in relation to their head. If they were fat like they should be the 3 pounders we catch would be 5+ pounds easy. Your pic. reminds me of those. Did it look like that to you in person? Maybe it just looks different in the pic. Nice fish no matter what. Congrats.

Looks like you caught it in cold 🥶 water. The whiteish color is normally a sign of cold water...

Is it a cold water thing? I thought it was a sunlight thing in the winter. Happens out here in Cal. in our lakes also, during the winter. Which would be colder water, so I was just wondering?

Thanks you all! I lost another nice one this morning! And yes it broke my freaking 6lb test! So I'm not all the Ultra Lite fisherman I thought I was. I had a feeling I should have retied The lure after yesterday. I'm kicking myself. So don't forget to retie your lures every so often guys!

Lost a few myself by not re-tying. Always a good idea, it's just when you are in the moment catchin fish it's not what's always in the forefront of your mind. Hate it when that happens though.

Conditions were not good at lunch I didn't get a bite. After work it was cloudy cool 64 degrees. And misting. Had one bite and I caught him! Not a bad little fish.

One is always better than none. That misting rain may have been the front coming in to you area. I have fished knowing a front was moving during the summer and as it got closer the bigger fish bite. After the front hit it was like a light switch. OFF. lol
