Hello,
First off, I am KNOT a social media guy, so posting is as foreign to me as "dangling" a garden worm is to Joe Brooks...

I've been reading the Fishing Digest for just over a month now & have found it interesting, informative & entertaining (knot necessarily in that order). Figured it was time to "break the ice" as lakes here in North Jersey are starting to freeze over...

As stated in my bio, I try to fish for anything that swims in the NJ/NY/PA region & am always looking to increase my angling acumen from some of you "more experienced" fellows. I've enjoyed reading the posts from the different areas of the country & have learned about some fish I never knew existed (largehead hairtail? - go figure!)

Thanks in advance for the camaraderie & shared fishing information. I hope I can finally perfect my center-pin casting, any advice?

Welcome, glad you finally posted. I'll have to look at Google Maps to find the little lake I fished back in the '70's, North Jersey. Had to park on the side of the hyway and put the canoe in the creek it went over. The lake was totally locked in by private houses. As we came in by the creek, we were not trustpassing. Lots of small Chain Pickerel, we did catch and release as they were about 10 inches long. Good fun. Went back out the same way we came in.

I'll try knot to be a "one & done, one-hit-wonder" here on the forum as well as post a few stories & photos of my fishing adventures. Fishing has always been my escape from the everyday grind (I commuted from Northwest Jersey to NYC for 41 years) and to paraphrase the Zac Brown Band, it "quiets my mind"...

For my first picture, here's one from a couple of years ago & an unusual way to fish for Lake Ontario smallmouth - from a jet-ski (looong story)! Bonus points go to you fisherman who spotted the Oswego nuclear power plant in the background of the smallies head!

Other recent "diverse-method" catches from NJ:
Belly-Boat NJ Landlocked salmon; NJ belly boat bass, NJ stream trout, NY salmon & for you pan-fisherman a NJ Crappie in a 'yak!

And finally, some wintertime fishin' up north & at home on the ice with my Loyal IF'n Bud, MOOSE...
