Hey all! I am in need of some wisdom. I live in a small town in Ohio and just got the town to approve my idea to start a local fishing club for youth and teens. I want to encourage them to put down the controller's and screens and get outside and fish. I have a pretty good group of youth on board so far with about 30 kids. The problem I am running into the lack of tackle and rods these future anglers will need to enjoy their experience. I have already looked into online garage sales an my nearest mom and pop tackle shop is a bass pro shop and hour drive from my house. The town likes my idea but won't provide any funding for me to even buy the basics. Any ideas on how to get some lures, baits and rods so that everyone can enjoy their time out on the water? Any idea you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would try two places, GoFundMe.com and start putting together a FaceBook page. Now if your going to take pictures and post them. Be sure you get parents consent. You can try Pizza restaurants and other businesses. like the ones that sponsor little league bass ball teams. Try clubs in the area, VFW, ELK ECT. Design nice flyers, make copies and slide them under door s. Do not put them in mailboxes. Get Mason jars, put labels on them, ask businesses if they would be kind enough to put it by the register. Be creative :)

Put an ad on your local craigslist and nextdoor. Explain it just like you just did to us. You may be surprised at the result. There are thousands of old rods, reels and tackle boxes gathering dust in garages and storage rooms that good people would love to donate.

Check out any resale shops in your area. I see rods and reels all of the time at our Goodwill, cancer, and church resale shops. Good luck.

Connect your local businesses and let them know what you’re trying to do. Most will probably love to donate to your cause.
