St. John's River Florida
Next month we are traveling to Welaka, FL with our RV to stay for at least 2 months. I'm taking my 9 ft. inflatable to fish with. I know this section of the river is fairly well populated, but should I be concerned with alligators?

Not sure but the name makes me think about it
I lived near Everglades for 18 months years ago. I found that gators don’t attack boats unless you’re dragging food ( fish on a stringer). Just stay in the boat and don’t do anything to aggravate them.
Have fun fishing!
Welcome to the forum G53. Glad you go along with the humor.
On the serious side I have a friend that stays in Orlando during the winter which as you know is a little south of where you will be. They are in a condo type of park with ponds through out the property. And yes they have gators. You aren't at the top of the food chain in that craft you are showing.

Welcome to the Forum, G53, Good Luck & Tight Lines. Enjoy the FL. sunshine.
and good luck trying to get a straight answer out of anyone in Florida. Florida = Alligators. Africa = Crocodiles. I learned that the hard way. Be cautious, not scared. Don't fall out.
I would be more afraid of Python's and maybe Crock's
Caught a 10 + Bass in the St. John"s about a 100 years ago.
one thing to be VERY cautious about their matting season is coming up. If you happen to come into an area where a bull gator is they usually will let you know with a low growl. While fishing in southern Arkansas with a buddy we went into a small cove and an eleven footer let us know that was his area and to get the hell out. There is no mistaking the sound it is scary and will get your attention for sure.
Do not worry about gators, we are not dinner to them, on the hunting list and afraid of us again! Watch out for sharp things that cut inflatables, including fish fins and hooks. Aggressive crocodiles only in saltwater by the Everglades. Who`s gonna mess with a big mother and her babies? We all steer clear then. Tight Lines
by the way you can not believe how quick they can lunge three to four feet to get a lure or a fish that you have on your line. they are a blast catching the three to four footers I've never landed anything bigger than 4 but the tear the heck out of your tackle with the spinning but a lot of fun when nothing else is biting. Be careful
