20lb braid snapping on 40lb leader

In my opinion the mono/flouro should be lighter than the braid.
Better to lose a bit of leader than lots of braid.

The heavier leader helps with toothy critters and abrasive areas the leader comes in contact with a lot of fisherman in Florida use heavy fluorocarbon instead of wire 80 lb grouper and 40 or even 50 for Spanish Mackerel

The FG means fine grip. A little complicated to tie but great knot. You tube will show you how to do it.
I use the thumb and fore finger method easy to tie in any conditions.
