Ever think about asking for permission for fishing on private property?

Yep even mentioned it to someone a while back who was sneaking into golf courses, and posting pictures.

Seemed to think he didn't have an issue.

Been taught to ask permission from landowners to hunt/fish on their property since old enough to hold a pole and bait my own hook !
Most folks are pretty co-
operative if you promise to keep their property neat and clean; others, not so much, probably due to bad experience with some jerks who spoiled it for the rest of us !

Only takes one with no respect of private property to ruin access for respectable folks that seek permission first and offer to help maintain property!

I have written permission from my brother-in-law to hunt or fish on his property. Here in Mississippi if you don’t have it the game warden can arrest you for trespassing and hunting or fishing on property that is not yours. I sold some property and was given permission to remove some things that belonged to me from the place. I gave a friend of mine written permission to go onto the property to get some things for one day. The new owner saw him and called the law. He got off since he had the permission slip. Still had to call me to prove I had given it to him. I guess it is good for this except today your word of mouth ain’t worth anything any more. Even if you have written permission you still have to prove it.

I have written permission from my brother-in-law t... (show quote)

I have five acres of land that is posted because of rude people. Sorry, I don’t need snowmobiles and four wheelers blasting around my home at 50 mph and 110 decibels. Even with the posting there are still people doing this.

I also have dogs who use my property and unless you post your land trappers can legally put body grip traps on your property.

My observation is people have little respect for private property and I applaud enforcement. People should ask permission to enter private property, posted or not!

KDWP has had cards printed the landowners get half and the person with permission gets the other.

And if you see a purple post marking it means no trespassing.

Some think that its easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission.

Trespassing these days is more serious than the good old days when you got sent to your room.

Wonder what happened to the guy who was sneaking into golf courses in southern California and posting pictures of nice bass.

Haven't seen him for some time.

He seemed to have that attitude.

Maybe

Social media has bitten more than just 1 person.

He was proud of his situation.

And warned.

Last time in Montana I wanted to take my wife and girls to a mountain lake full of grayling. Turned out access to the Nat'l Forest was blocked by a locked gate and No Trespassing sign. So spent an hour looking for the rancher. We got permission and he told me that he had done that because some idiot had shot 3 of his cows the previous hunting season. Lots of public land access is denied because people don't respect others' property! So when asking, if access is granted we should all leave a place better than we found it. That way we get to go back😃
