$350 ticket for fishing on private property.

I was told that there were a lot of fish. Bass in a golf course pond in Kingwood Texas. Went there a couple of times at night and the second time I was there the sheriff and police backup came over the top of the hill while I had a fish on. Of course I get a ticket and had to sign a no trespass order. Went to court today, had a nice district attorney. Told her the property was not posted. It wasn't. She asked me if I was going to go back. I said no way I learned my lesson! The ticket was $350 and $72 court cost. She asked me if court cost and an $8 fine were okay with me. God bless! I said absolutely. Cost me $80 and got a month to pay. And if I get no more tickets in the next 90 days the ticket will not go on my record. Just to let all you guys who fish Golf Course ponds.
Wow Jon things must be really slow in Kingwood Texas. Is the San Jacinto River your new go to spot or did you get a membership at the Atascocita Golf club or was it the Forest Cove Country Club?
According to the map rather large part of the town, cops can't find something like a real crime going on there?
We got caught riding around on golf carts after dark. Well some of us did, had to fix the ruts!

You had a good DA. Ill stay off golf courses now. That's where I go to gig frogs
Me thinks somebody missed a basic point - private property is not open land. When in doubt ask for permission, think if you owned the land would you not want Tom Dick and Harry to ask you for permission?
Well, I almost lost my life fishing a private pond in Tennessee. The pond is half on my buddies property and half on his neighbors ( whom I had never met ). As I walked towards the pond to meat my buddy, I heard the click click of a shotgun. As I turned around , to my amazement, there was an older man with a shotgun pointed at my chest! After a brief conversation about who I was and that his neighbor was my friend, he lowered the weapon. Close one!!! After we shook hand and exchanged names, we made an agreement. If I wanted to fish on his side of the pond, I was to leave a 24oz Bush light beer on his front porch. He said heβd hear me put the beer down and know it was me.... Caught a 7lb bass that day!ππΌββοΈπ£
Lucky day Bf. Lucky day.
And cheap access.
Regarding Jon's ticket; after viewing his case, I think the judge should have issued some order or request for the authorities to contact the golf course owners/
management and have them post it for 'No trespassing/No fishing' !
If the legal system is aware of an existing situation and do nothing to inform the public, wouldn't that constitute some form of entrapment ? Just askin' !
We have so many retention ponds with great fish stocked but Government in charge will not allow anyone on property cause of law suits! Public property with no access from past injury lawsuits.
Bad precedents; crap like that could potentially close down national parks if people started suing for camping accidents,
bear attacks and/or any number
of possible incidents, especially with some of the judges in office
nowadays ! Not good !
