I don't have, nor have I ever used an air injector, though that is not intended as a put-down; if I need it to float off the bottom slightly, I'll put a power bait nugget or small marshmellow ahead of the 'crawler; the bright color (orange/chartreuse/hot pink) adds a little attraction to catch their eye as well as the added flotation !

Say Gordon, that looks like a
really nice bull red in your photo ! Wild guess at around 15 to
18 lbs., maybe ? Food or release ?

Love to hear that first bird. The first voice breaking the silence. In two minutes the woods are alive with bird calls. I've often wondered if it is the same bird who speaks first every morning. I sounds like you have found Heaven's doorstep.

With that said, miniature marshmallows with red jello or koolaid and garlic on them might help.

Flotation

Something to ponder.

There are several brands of colored, scented marshmallows on the market; if not found at Walmart, then definitely Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Sportmen's Warehouse, and any decent tackle/bait shop !

And have shown the resulting catches to prove it ! Keep haulin' 'em in, Oz ! Do you mostly fry, or do you also grill your catch ? Or
does the species matter/decide as to which method used ?
