It has been nearly a 3 month dry spell since the last time I caught a bass. August 26th was the last time I caught one to be exact. I am still new to the sport, I have only been fishing for about 8 months. I had a lot of luck in the beginning but the bite completely died in the summer basically. I have watched tons of tutorials on YouTube, been on bass resource, etc... nothing seems to work. Obviously, I am doing something wrong and it is driving me crazy.

You could say I am desperate...

I am looking for advice on what to use and where to go. I am in DFW and I do have a cheap kayak so I am somewhat able to do more than just bank fish. I am planning on fishing all day Saturday and Sunday, and also using live bait in addition to lures. I am really hoping to break the curse this weekend so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

How and where are you fishing it?

Cast it near cover or along the shore. Rod tip in between 10 and 11 and give it small twitches. You'll either feel the hit or you'll just feel a difference in weight and set the hook. A lot of good videos on the Neko on youtube, definitely a bait worth trying.

60s for highs 40s at night. The water temps are all still about 60.

Could go crank baits or jigs. Or even a spinner bait that you move really slow across the bottom. Vary up your speeds on retrieval. The clearer the water go with a brighter color. The muddier the water, the darker the bait

I may just pick up a craw colored crank bait.

When in doubt I always revert back to natural colors

I have some natural, but the water around here is so stained or muddy I may need something darker. I probably need to get out of this mindset of a different lure or new color will work, because so far that is just not the case.

That's the game though. Try different lures, colors, retrieves, depths, times of day, keep trying anything and everything. At this point as things cool off things will start to slow down. It's ok. I used to hit it hard from ice out til winter here in the northeast. But as cold weather got closer I'd get frustrated. Know what I did? Got a hunting license to switch it up for me. Fish hard all summer, hunt deer and waterfowl in the fall, and then turkey in the spring. Became a better person and outdoorsman for it

I would really be lost when it comes to hunting. I could see myself doing it if I had family or friends that did though. Pretty soon they'll start stocking trout so maybe I'll try that.

Get a pack of green pumpkin Berkley Havoc Pit Boss lures, texas rig them with no weight on a 4/0 EWG hook, fish on 10-12 pound braid with a 6-8 pound fluoro leader, or 6-8 pound mono (adjust line weights depending on the water you fish, more weeds higher test etc). 60 degree water temps should still be typical summer bass fishing - hit points of land/drop off ledges/stumps/brush/weed beds and twitch the lure back to you at a medium rate, lifting and dropping occasionally. Basically just make it move around but don't swim it back to you. Early morning hit closer to shore, as noon approaches fish deep and slow down your retrieve, try to hit shadowed areas of water that are deep off the shore, as dusk approaches move back to shallow water. Keep an eye on where the bluegill and other baitfish are scattering off the shore when you get close and come back to those areas during morning and dusk. You'll catch bass if you're casting where fish are. Pit Bosses have never ever ever skunked me.

The water around here ranges from stained to chocolate milk I was just curious if green pumpkin is good for that?
