Was that near your home ? A former girlfriend from Raymond told me that she came out one winter morning to check on/break up the ice on her well when she spotted a black bear not fifty yards from where she was standing; didn't take her long to make the thirty-yard dash to her door and shut it tightly behind her ! That summer, we took a long week-end in a rented cabin on Back Lake in Pittsburg; went to the town dump about dusk and saw two of them rummaging for food not thirty yards away ! One of my friends told me that he once heard noises above him as he was approaching his deer stand; looked up to his stand to find a bear sitting in it about fifteen feet up ! Went elsewhere to hunt that day !

Did you turn him over to Fish & Game ? Is food really that scarce for them in N.H.? Not enough acorns, berries, etc. ? What up ?

Yes I called a rehab center they came and got him but they called 2days later and told me he did not make it. When I found him he was standing on top of the cabin of my boat. Normal years produce plenty of food but last year was just not good. The director of the rehab joint said they had 63 Cubs already.
