True poisonous snakes are hard to find now a days! Many banded water snakes get shot cause they look like a moccasin. We have black racers and they target rattlers for dinner. Also helped a few indigo snakes repopulate locally. All part of the wildlife! Seen red mangrove snakes twice, Very rare and protected. Let-em live too!
Our rivers, lakes, and creeks are full of Cottonmouths, and Water Moccasins in the warm months. If you go deer, duck, or goose hunting before it gets cold, you better watch your steps. I’m serious. They’re out there and they will nail you before you know it. I’m not afraid of snakes at all. Seen them all my life while fishing and hunting. I just respect them very much. 👊 In Vietnam they had a snake called the “two stepper”. It is a beautiful emerald green snake with a red stripe on its belly. It’s a very poisonous pit viper. If you get bit, it’s venom attacks you organs and nerves instantly, and you die right then. That’s why it’s called a “two stepper”. Hack 🇺🇸🇨🇱
Here’s what I was writing about. The “two stepper” name was given to this snake by the ground pounders. Although it is very poisonous, you won’t die in two steps, but you can’t walk either. Hack 🇺🇸🇨🇱

No Sir, I don’t watch war shows or read books about them. Wars are all the same. You either live or die, and you act like neither one matters. Hack 🇺🇸🇨🇱
OK guys, I was rained in West Texas where we went to the Sweetwater rattlesnake roundup. They displayed the rattlesnake and also milked them. Cooking the snakes was also a thing they did. They taste good. As a youngster we collected them and also skinned them to cover belts, billfolds as well as making hat bands. OK, I know some folks don’t like em, and some do. So what, there is good and bad every where you turn. Sorry if I have offended any one here in the fish world.
Many years ago my Grandad, who lived in Milan, Ga., was traveling on a clay dirt road with a two horse team pulling the wagon. He was in a hurry and the horses were moving fast when a huge Rattlesnake struck at the leg of one of the horses. He missed the horse but instead buried his fangs in the wagon tongue. He went on home but the next morning the wagon tounge had swelled so much that he had to trim it down so it would fit the wagon. The shavings off that wagon tongue produced 600 pounds of firewood, of course it was used to heat the house all winter long.

Get a tabby car. My daughter in Georgia has a big tabby. Every spring he starts bringing in dead rattlers and copperheads. He kills them and then presents them as gifts. A little odd, but so handy. I sent her a name tag for him: Rikki Tikky Tabby.
