Nice job on a windy day! I don't mind the pickerel if they are 3lbs or bigger but the little ones are a soft plastic grinding machine. Annoying as hell.

Good luck! I've been doing well in grassy lakes with a belly weighted super fluke or swimming worm with a 1/8oz bullet weight. Frogs are always fun.

Very nice fish! Great recap on the fight. Those days make fishing and the re-telling of the story all worthwhile. Isn't fishing all about the memories!

Went to Lake Kenosia in Danbury last Friday and again today. I usually just go out for a couple of hours before working (I work from home) and Kenosia and Ball pond are only 10 and 5 minutes from my house so they are perfect for a quick kayak drop in plus no motors of any kind are allowed - not even electric. I usually do pretty well on both but Kenosia has been producing consistently lately and its your classic bass lake. Lilly pads, foxtail and water chestnut are abundant and the bass use this cover. Friday I only had 2 hours to fish and managed 2 nice 2lb fish as well as a couple of sub 12" fish - all on a 6" gambler flapp'n shad. Today I had more time but when I got to the lake I discovered that I left my paddles home so back home I went and returned 30 mins later. Not a good way to start! Then my new Garmin striker 4 didn't turn on so I couldn't find my deep weed edges so I just went and casted along the Lillies. On my 2nd cast with the flapp'n shad I had a good take and I could tell it was a big fish. She really tried dragging me into the pads but managed to keep her clear and after a few minutes of tug of war slipped the net under a nice 5lb fish. Managed only one other small fish about 12" on a swimming worm after that and the wind came up out of the north and I got blown off but it was fun while it lasted. Here's a few pics of Fridays and todays fish.

I'm bringing my trout jigging tackle today and see if I can put one in the boat. Small 1/4 and 3/8 oz jig heads with 3 and 4 inch alewife looking swimbaits - snap jigging like Elias on youtube. He kills them in the finger lakes doing the same thing.

looked like high 60's or low 70's. I couldn't see if there was a thermocline set up yet or not. Just pods of big fish usually around small pods of bait fish. Thought they might be big brownies.

Tried trolling leadcore and a flutter spoon Sunday over some very impressive fish marks over toward the New Fairfield arm. Not a bite. They were 20 ft down and grouped up. Looked like trout or bass. Maybe I'll try jigging for them today.

I bought a 20' Bayliner and wanted some spots in candlewood to try for some of the big brown trout I here are in the lake. I had some large fish marks on my garmin under bait in 20' of water over near New Fairfield but didn't have any equipment with me. Should I try snap jigging, drop shot or troll lead core? Any suggestions?

Thanks! I do a lot more kayak fishing the small ponds like Ball, Kenosia and Mt. Tom. I love getting dragged around in a circle by a big fish.

I just bought a boat and I am interested in fishing for large brown trout and smallmouth bass. I am an experienced fisherman but have no experience on this lake. Any tips would be appreciated!
