Anyone in the West side of Florida who fishes close to shore or lakes have any suggestions for good fishing lures to use?

I am new to this forum. I don't have a boat so I only fish from the shore in lakes or from a bridge in salt water. My husband fishes in one spot and I fish further down from him. He always catches fish, even though they are small, but I never catch anything. We have traded spots on many occasions and he ends up catching where I was at and I get nothing where he was preciously at. We both use the same bait, shrimp, and the same size line. I have even tried squid, worms, and artificial bait, but still nothing. I would love to hear some suggestions on what I can do to catch fish. I live in mid-Florida, 45 miles west of Tampa, within walking distance to the ocean. It's called Hammock Creek. Neither one of us have ever caught a fish big enough to keep.
