A great day for all of you
No. Flooded timber, sunken brush. Piles have been there for years. Aquilla has lots of sunken brush. And lots of crappie
All filleted and cleaned up in about an hour. They won’t last that long when I fry em. Already fed the family. Having a small group of friends over this Saturday.
We all got our limit. 75 keepers
Took my son in law and grandson on Aquilla for some crappie fishing. They were stacked up on brush piles.
Had a great day and a great fish fry back home with the family
You fly into Mazatlan. Generally out of Phoenix tho 2 years ago they had non stop out of DFW. ANGLERS INN picks you up at airport in van stocked with Pacifico beer. Drive you straight to lodge (about 90 minutes). Greet you with margaritas and get you on the water with guide that afternoon. At end of trip, everything in reverse. No contact with the locals except lodge personnel. They’re very accommodating and trip is very safe.
Three of my fishing buddies and I just got back from Mexico fishing El Salto out of Anglers Inn run by Billy Chapman. It’s a great setup. Nice lodge, great service, good food, great guides. The 4 of us caught over 400 bass in our 3 1/2 days of fishing. A couple of 7s one 8, and many 4s,5s, and a few 6s. Some of y’all may have made this trip and can attest to the great setup and fishing. Those who haven’t, I hope you can make it someday.
Like most lakes, it tends to cycle. It’s been really good for past couple of years. But I suspect it will decline just like Lake Fork has. I hear Fork is maybe rebounding. Sure hope so.
Ivie is currently THE bass fishery in Texas. Bringing in guys from all over the country. 12, 13, 14 lb’ers taken out regularly this past winter and spring. Lake record taken out about 3-4 weeks ago went 17.06 lbs. Lots of guys with their live scopes. Personally, I’m thinking that’s bad for the fishery. How many of those winter bass are getting pulled out of 35-40 ft of water and don’t survive. I’m probably in the minority but I don’t like it for bass fishing. I’d use it for crappie, but not bass. The sport is in finding the fish based on structure, cover, weather and water conditions etc. OK. I’m off my soap box. Tell me what y’all think.
It actually did. Lots of flooded brush for them to get tangled with. Nice tail walking as well. Got her on swim bait.
We fished Ivie past 2 days. Good numbers and two bigs. A 7:6 lb’er and an 8.1 lb’er. Still a few late spawning . Lots of fry swimming around.
Me with 7.6
My buddy with 8.1
Here’s a pic of the 8.75 lb’er my buddy caught.
