I posted the original post on the shad. I went yesterday. No water moving and the bite was slow. I do not keep any of the fish. There maybe someone living in your area that goes and throws them back. If so, you could get him to save them for you.

The shad should starting to move up the Rediversion Cannal. Fishing is just started to pick up. They are spilling a lot of water and the river will be full. There are places to fish off the bank but it is much easier to fish from a boat. The fish lift is currently out of order so what comes up will stay in the river until the lift is fixed. The shad are lots of fun to catch but I do not eat them. Remember there is a 10 fish limit per person and they will check you at arrowhead landing.

are you looking for fish to eat or just fish to catch? If you are looking for fish to catch, the shad will be running at the rediversion canal at St Stevens. Go over the canal and turn right. Go by the fish hatchery and follow the road under the track. turn right and park in the lot. walk over the dike and fish with a chartreuse curly tail jig. You will have company and will catch shad.

We caught the flathead and a channel cat. Could have caught more but we left to find stripers. We did not keep any catfish. I have plenty of fish in the freezer. We asked Mike to take the fish.

Mike and I had a wonderful time on the lake. The fish had moved so it took a little time to locate them. It was fast and furious when we did. I was fortunate enough to have my oldest granddaughter come along with me. She caught the first fish. A large flathead catfish. Big fish for the day. We caught the limit and ran out of live bait. We used 7 dozen baits.

Mike and I have a guide reserved for a stripper trip on Lake Murray for Tuesday 22 August. We have an opening for one or two more people. If anyone is interested, let me know.
