Thanks for that update. Are there any good spots left on the Lewis River?

I would like any recommendations where I can take my 5 and 6 year old grandchildren fishing this summer in southwest Washington state. The fish species doesn't matter. They just want to go fishing with me in my boat. They live in Portland and I live in Washington state. If there is a place to stay over night. That would be a bonus.

I grew up in Clark County. We didn’t have a boat so we did tons of shore fishing. It’s been about 25 years since I lived there but here are a few options to look at: Battle Ground lake. It’s a small lake that’s usually stocked with trout. No motorized boats allowed (but maybe a small electric motor?). Further north is Merwin and Yale reservoirs. There is lodging available nearby in Ridgefield and Woodland. The Lewis river winds through a good part of the county and there are many different shore fishing options. Start by looking at Daybreak Park to see if there are still shore fishing options there. Hopefully these recommendations still work. One of my favorite places to fish as a kid was Lacamas Lake but that’s no longer an option. It used to be out in the countryside but now it’s surrounded by private homes and I don’t think there’s any access.
