Here is an article that I wrote about how to catch sheepshead. Maybe it will help you catch your next one. They are worth the effort as others have said they taste great.

Nice catch! I am in St. Augustine and there have been a few caught off the pier. Having trouble getting crabs because of the cold front. Tight lines

I only found one of the shops I frequent that has crabs but man are they small

Delicious, but difficult to fillet. Check out utube for instructions

I went to you tube the other night not much different than filleting what we catch on NY. Now that I am set up to fillet I haven’t caught another one. 🀦

Do not need to bleed them. Very good tasting fish. If you cook it on the grill just filet both sides and leave the scales on it. Cook scale side down. Fish will come right off .

Thank you

Nice catch Kevin. Catch some more and have fish dinner. Sheepshead is one of my favorite fish to eat. They love fiddler crabs. Welcome to the stage

Do I need to bleed them out when I catch them. Or just filet and release

I would like to hear of surf fishing on Cocoa beach. I plan to visit for a week at the end of February.

I used to fish Cocoa Beach every February and regularly caught whiting, pompano the occasional blue fish and lots of catfish. As stated already use shrimp because just about everything in Florida eats shrimp.
