I read that as girth squared x length /800. is that right? or do you get a girth reading at 2 different points?
Yep, Skip And Will are still running gin. At one time they used store as a museum also. Ate a lot of wheel cheese and bologna from there.
Do a little research on Sparkleberry swamp for great bass and crappie. Not far from Manning. Just be sure you have gps as you could get lost.
Am curious about results achieved this year, Could we see some reports from the low country?
My brother went twice with very little luck. But he was alone and not very well prepared. He insisted on start of outgoing tide, and refused to go where we always caught before.
Thanks Gordon for the report. Were you deep hole or baited poles? When you get time, check out the cemetery. Always seen limits of 12/14 size shrimp from there. In years past , there were boats waiting in line to get there poles out. Those guys used poles with no tags or reflectors. They had tubes with all that, to fit over pole, and just switched tops so they didn't lose track of bait. Main poles stayed in same spot. If you can't locate, I can pm map.
My nephew went 2 weeks ago and limited out in 2 1/2 hrs. Fairly nice size. Same night DNR caught a team with 3 large coolers full. Charged $5500.00 " YES"! Then they told DNR they would be back next day, DUMB. Years ago before baiting, I could catch more faster than now.
We were going to try shrimp this a.m.. Noticed hadn't put new boat sticker on yet. Didn't have it with me. So we didn't try it. Been doing right well off Monkey Island.
Went last night for flounder gigging, tide came out of marsh grass and right back in. Only out of the grass about 1/2 hour. Saw 4 undersize , but nothing else . Not even any shrimp running. One other boat saw 1 undersize, stuck 1 Red. Thought that tide would be over by now.
Hope you have a great experience when you do get to go. Also look at Eddings Point landing, and fishing off Morgan Island.
I went flounder gigging a month ago, tide didn't really go low, muddy, and I had light problems. My brother was on gig and only saw 1, undersize. Only been shrimping since.
How about it Shellcracker, did you get to try it out? How was the landing and the fishing? Pictures.
Safer to use than Grayshill landing at Seabrook.
