I would ask you to record your life and what you did right and not so right. My great grandmother did this as she came to Arizona in a wagon and had a ranch outside of tombstone and knew of many of the people like the Earps that would stay at the ranch that was about 20miles out of town.I have shared this with my kids, grandkids and about to share with my great grandkids. History should not be lost to time

Excellent point. I video taped my grandfather doing the same idea. I shared this old video with my children, cousins, and grandchildren. My grandfather was 95 when he died. A lot of found memories and history preserved

I use google maps a lot, even in waters Iā€™m familiar with. I bring up the satellite view. I can see bottom to a certain extent.

Great Thank you for sharing this tip with us

How do you prepare to locate fish in a large body of water far from home that you never fished in a boat? Does a fish map of that body of water help? Does one locate others fishing from a boat not knowing which species they are fishing? I've tried asking on line but with little luck. What strategies can you provide to fish a large body of water you have never been too. Thank you for these strategies and I'm looking forward to trying them out.

I love Banks Lake, probably my favorite lake in the state. Beware there are a huge amount of ticks in the warmer months on the shorelines. I never targeted walleye, but bass are a kick in the Spring and soaking a nightcrawler almost anywhere will lead to some great table fare. I've stayed at Steamboat and just camped on the shoreline in a back bay.

I greatly appreciate that information

The advantage of steamboat Rock is the proximity of good fishing near the ramp. As for walley that time of year, I would be more inclined to go up to Roosevelt. At Potholes Mosquitos will drive you off in the spring. At Banks I would also recommend quality bug dope. Also at banks, it never hurts to have cat, perch and carp gear. The wind can get things unfishable in a boat. If that happens, a backup for your youngster never hurts to prevent bordun. Who knows. The biggest walleye of the trip might be caught bank fishing.

There are several camping spots all around Banks Lake. Tents? truck camper? or resort? Book a spot early as they fill up. There are Walleye all over that lake. Lots of Small Mouth around the rip rap alongside the roadways. Near there are a couple other lakes. Roosevelt, Crescent Bay Lake, Roofus Woods. All full of walleyes. April is a good month for them. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. Looking forward to exploring a new lake with my grandson
