All I ever found was an ax head that had been left in the crotch of a tree and completely grown over. I only found it because the tree fell over while I was out hunting. It’s one of the two times I’ve seen a tree simply fall over on it’s own while I was around to watch it happen.

There are two large, reputable, stores in Kallispell and they are Cabelas and the Sportshop. The fishing department of either store can give you the latest on what's working.

Most of the new motors on the market would give you all the years of enjoyment you could ask for (Evinrude is having a few problems right now). If your 60hp is older it probably isn't as power or gas efficient as the new ones and you might get by on a 50hp? It would be less expensive and lighter. I didn't get my dream boat until I was 70 and I haven't been able to keep myself out of it ever since. My grandfather fished until 86 when a medical condition caused him to not be steady on his feet, so what did he do? He got a chair and went down to the shore and fished from there. If each time you want to do something you hesitate because of the cost you will never do much and now is the time to cram in as much as you can. Buy the motor, be safe and know that the next adventure is only a boat ramp away.

I have heard that walleye are in the spawn mode at present. Is this true. And if so , where would a good area too fish. I was thinking maybe north east end of moses lake. Jig? Troll ? Do they go up the creek their.

I fish Crab Creek where it empties into Potholes Reservoir every year at this time for spawning Walleye. You will be most productive fishing a bottom bouncer rig with an eighteen inch leader that includes a smile blade, a bead and a nightcrawler on a slow death hook. Keep the speed down to less than a mile an hour. If you don't want to make your own setup then there are all kinds of pre-tied rigs at most stores. For up to the minute info contact Mardon's Resort on the east end of the lake. If you do visit there store primarily for info at least buy a little something (bait) to say thanks.

Need some input I go back and forth all the time. I'm 76 years old, still working full time as Athletic Director at a high school, I know my years are numbered that I can continue to launch a boat etc and continue to fish in Canada every summer. My question is I'm not comfortable with my 60 hp Johnson motor that is on my boat, do I rent my last few years or do I spend the money (around $8K for60 hp motor) and buy a new motor for what would be for a few years? I'm interested in what others think.

Thanks

Hello. There is a large group of Japanese that fish commercially but can only use a small boat, compared to the "big guys", and they can't afford to pay for a lot of repairs or have any downtime. They, almost exclusively use Tohatsu (when they came to the USA they were called Nissan) outboards. I bought a used 75 hp many years ago and have never had it in the shop since , I do my own maintenance, and I love it. PS. I think they are the lightest outboard on the market so you can go bigger if you want to. PSS. Sometimes the stopping and won't start is an electrical problem. The motor gets hot, the wires expand and it shorts out. It won't start again until it cools down.

Point the fly to a place above where you want it to land. By aiming your fly at the place you want it to land you don't give the leader time to fully extend.

Hello. If you go to Amazon.com and put in "fishing bags" it will come up with fishing bags backpack and you get a huge array of different styles. I like the ones that have a place for four Plano tackle boxes and the opportunity to tie on my rod(s) to one side and my folding three legged stool on the other. Most are priced from $50 to $100.
