depends on water temp in your area. The most important thing is water temp. Bait fish will be in the warmer water and the bass too. check with your local bait shop , and ask around the docks.
with my experience is go as often as you can, and learn something every trip. It's not just about catching
a fish. that is the bonus when you do!!
may you hook up soon !

I already don"t like your kid brother. That"s living the the dream .
You obvious live here in AZ. and by Sep. it should be around 100 degrees LOL.
Around that time, I need to scout for deer, I GOT DRAWN . finally.
not sure what sport is harder? fishing is mental, and hunting is physical when your 60
hope everyone gets healthy so you can go fishing.
we might have to hook up one day! for sure.

Hi Jim, Apology is not needed. I am your local guy with very little knowledge of fishing.Spending time on the water is just a great experience.I do try and learn something every time I go out. I am having a Rod made by a local rod builder , and I talked him into fishing with me the other day. Not a bad day for me, one half way to boat and one small one in the boat. The rod builder skunked out. Yes he was fishing for monster fish, with BIG swim baits. Fishing is tough in AZ for the average fisherman, and even harder for the novice fisherman like me.
Jim : I am sorry to hear about the heath issues that is keeping you off the water for now. I know it:s hard, my mother is still with us at 88 yrs young( thank you lord !). Mom kept me off the water for a few months due to heath reasons. But I am blessed to still have her around, and her heath is better.
Good luck to you Jim and hope you get on the water SOON.

I was told to look at it by an average everyday fisherman this way.
With the technology we have in today's world, Would you go play golf with a putter and a driver, even though it can be done. Or have an option of having the proper club for the distance. Full bag of iron's and drivers.
Catching fish requires more than just one style or type of pole. Use and buy what works for you, to be a successful angler.

You and I are in the same place as fishermen. I also have been looking into upgrades. I just came from a Rod builder here in town that make"s custom rods.I spent over an hour talking to him, and as i understand it, it works like this. It takes about 450.00 to build a great sensitive rod. You need a 200.00-300.00 dollar blank
and the second most important thing is the guides. These transfer the sensitivity from the line to the pole.
The rest of the rod is what it is. The lighter the pole the more sensitive it will be.I have found out after buying four or five low budget poles I still have four or five rods to use for cranks, live bait fishing, ect.ect.
No more cheap gear. going to bite the bullet and have one made. It cost 100.00 in labor plus parts. to build a top of the line pole, with sensitivity, back bone, and comfort fishing all day, finesse fishing you need a sensitive rod. I would recommend to spend a little more and get a middle range pole. Shimano Curado
makes a great pole for about 150.00 . good luck and buy somthing you will enjoy, and be happy with.
also google top 10 fishing rods ! One last thing, do not buy one on line, they come broken.Hope i helped

As Ike says all the time ( never give up ) .Maybe some one will tell me robo worm 12ft Bartlett lake working now.Any and all help is appreciated, thanks reading.
