Got to Red Cross launch this morning about 9 am , tried the patches of pads first and nothing so I started to fish the shore line and Bingo that's where they were today . NNW wind had it's moments but fairly light compared to what we've been getting. First one 2&1/2 pounder second one a little over 3# and I quit weighing after that. Surprise !!!! πŸŽ‰ I caught my first Rock bass on a frog, this fish was really pretty sorry my camera didn't do it justice. Finished off with the " Little Black Frog" tied on at 3 and headed for home. Grass to mowπŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄ more like a hay field!!! Won't get out for next 3 days ( work)
Probably have to get retrained to learn how to fish missing that much time. My 3# er trashed my Lews KVD 8:1 to 1 reel it had been making noise when I went to Rip Lips this year , drag is a tight as it goes. This time it dack clicked 3 times in a row so I beached and switched it out with a cheapie 8:3 to 1 from Temu not as smooth but when I Ripped the next sets of lips she held fast. Always something to make things interesting around my days fishing. πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

The wind died down here in late afternoon and around 4 pm I headed out for Edinboro Lake. Got there and a big dark cloud was hovering real close. By the time I got on the water and about a quarter mile up to the pads all heck broke loose so there I sat hunkered down under my big golf umbrella ( save the cigar) . This lasted about 20-25 minutes so as soon as it broke I started casting away. I was using a big popper that I don't usually use and nothing was even making an attempt so I switched to my lighter pole with my Booyah jr. Popper .
A few cast later in an isolated patch of pads this bass shot up thru some matted crap came completely out of the water and choked my frog . No trouble getting her in 4.56 #s . And just to show I'm not prejudice on how big a Bass has to be to get a pic of , well my second bass was really small. That was it for the day wind picked up again and dark thirty rolled on the lake. I'll take it for a few hrs of frogn' in nasty weather. Sorry bout the pics something going on when I upload to my phone???????? πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

I just got back from a week with Jim Sargent and Cindy Harvey at Lake Powell. Of the five days I was there we fished three. Between us we boated 102 fish, mostly smallmouth, we caught some small largemouth, I caught a walleye and Jim caught a dessert plate sized bluegill. We didn’t land any monster sized fish but the time on the water and the ferocity of the fighting smallies is just heart pumping fun!!! I have been blessed to have such friends as this.

Like fishn' in a western movie. Looks like you Guys had a blast. Good for you!!! πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Son Gregg and I headed to one of the local waters for a bit this morning. We each caught 3 smallish bass and quite a few pickerel swimming 4” Keitech’s. We both lost a decent bass right at the bank, both looked to be a bit better than those we landed, maybe 2 and 1/4# or so. Tradition that we get out and fish on my birthday and make sure not to catch the skunk 🦨. The mallard pictured had 12 ducklings about a week ago but must have lost 2 to attrition of some sort. Got this card from my BIL, thought it was quite appropriate.

Love to see ya out in the rain my friend, fish don't care if it's raining but there sure seems to be a lot more elbow room as the crowd disperses quick. Just more fish for us πŸ€ͺ. Fish on just keep an eye on the sky for the thunder/ Bolts. That's when I beach and wait it out. Keep on fishn'.πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Got to the launch about 9 , the place was already a zoo. And I expected nothing less for a Saturday. My first fish came pretty quickly then I had to go hunting, not for fish but for a place that no one was . Lost a few today also ended up with 9 . I was throwing a black popping frog for most and I don't know what brand it is but it has awesome hooks. πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Nice fish , but I'm NOT a fan of fishin in the rain either. I woulda been one of the boats that was leavin... Unless it was a light rain and the fish were bitin.

I don't mind the cold or rain if the wind isn't howling . If it is I'm not going. It was warm enough to be comfortable so the rain is no problem , I put a baggie over mt camera phone to keep it dry . πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Had a blast fishing with my son Zack. On the water at Blue Marsh Lake from 9 AM to 1 PM. Used nightcrawlers, rattletraps and hard-bait crayfish, the nightcrawlers were the hot bait. Caught a bunch of carp all around 20"s. Also, showing the new tow rig, moved up to a Tundra i-Force 3.4 liter Twin-Turbo V6 producing 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, pulls my boat like it’s not even there. Looking forward to the next fishing trip.

Great set up both boat and the truck. Looks like you and your son had some fine fish fighting opportunities with those carp. The weather looks nice too. Just can't beat an old nightcrawler for fishn'. A guy can catch anything on one. I'm glad you got out and enjoyed the day, good to see the smiles in your pics. Went with my good friend this morning to pick up his 19 footer from winter storage and then headed out to the lake this afternoon. And when I got to the launch boats were racing to come in and load up to leave. They must have got my message about being so many boats on the lake when I showed up this past Monday!!!! πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ .
It may have been the storm and pouring rain , that's always a possibility??? πŸ™„πŸ™„. So after the bunch of hurried boaters got done loading I put in and started off to my spot I wanted . Today I had it all to myself . Couple boats left but they were Crappie fishn'. I started out with my new Booyah pointed nose frog in the gray color and the first fish of the day was a tad over 3# and the second was a solid 2.5# , finished the day off with a Booyah jr. Popper frog on my med heavy rod and got a few more right before dark thirty. 6 for the day in the rain . It quit raining around 7 something pm. Planning an all dayer tomorrow not sure where possibly Pymatuning and Edinboro Lakes. Will have to see what the weather brings!!!πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

5/1/24 What a difference a tide makes. Not good like yesterday. Low tide not moving . Crappie will probably be hitting a little later today. But I won't be there. Going to Jeff's Tap Room for lunch with Pat. Only five keepers this morning.

Nice looking fish Andy, looks like a productive morning , fishn' ,lunch and maybe more fishn'. That's life in a nutshell!!! Shout-out to J in Cleveland for going the extra mile to help someone out. That's why we love ya my friend!! Look forward to seeing you at the M&G!
Andy I'm not a Tide fisherman but I do understand how water level and color will move fish as locations either fill or drain. Even from a heavy rain. Fish are lazy they won't spend much time just swimming around for fun , it's all about the safety and food . Thanks for sharing πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Went carping in 70 degree Carnegie Lake this evening during a sunny, cool nor’easter. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught a 6 lb common carp on my first cast for this year. Then caught a 14 lb common carp on my second cast. After catching a white sucker, I landed a 10 lb common carp on my last cast. As I walked to my car with my rods and bucket πŸͺ£, a young woman went to my fishing 🎣 spot, knocked over my bucket of fish 🐠, then tried to kick the fish back into the lake. I returned before she was successful. NJ people suck. I gave the four fish to Wendy’s. A fisherman from Virginia netted my two biggest fish. I used my last can of whole kernel corn 🌽 from last year.

Looks like a great time fishing. Lot's of heavy fish. Your fishing pole doesn't look like a heavy rod so you must have had a blast reeling them in. Thanks for sharing !!!
As far as other people? Well that is part of the reason I fish out of my yac and in the thickest jungle of grass and pads I can find. Perhaps some people's kids may benefit from being exposed to the wonderful world of fishing and not Video games and or TV.
Other than that looks like you had a fine day with some hefty fish landed. That must have been one full bucket of fish??? Quote "This too shall pass" . You can only control yourself not othersπŸ₯΄. πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

Thanks, as I mentioned I wouldn't mind if you came in close to see what's going on. I'm really not doing anything special my friend . A lot of casting to what I believe are fishy looking places . Sometimes you have to put it right on top of them if they're close to the bank sitting in a pocket. A lot of times they won't come out very far to chase it , but when they do it often looks like a torpedo and I missed my first one of the season because I got excited and swung way too soon . She came out of some standing brush about 3' to chase my frog. WOW that gets the blood pumping fast and in a hurry. That's part of what makes frogn' fun and you stand a good chance of getting bigger fish over all. Net em , weight em take a pic, give em a kiss and send them back in . See ya soon at the M&G. Stay safe and good fortune this season enjoy your living room on the water!!! That's what J calls it. πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™

BTW What cigar brand is that? Looks like it would be good sitting down at night with a cup of coffee or something a little stronger.

Well one would like to think so, however since I go thru 5-6 on a long day I'm afraid that would effectively break my bank account. Truth be known these are Cuban mistakes brand and I get a box of 100 for about $ 85-$ 90:00 so they're pretty inexpensive and not much of a loss if broken or lost in the process of " Rippn' Lips" they keep me from sayn' stuff that a guy who just cut me off might not want hear! and keeps me from bitting my lip when I concentrate. I do have a wonderful friend who gives me really good cigars at times which I take the time to appreciate with a good cup of coffee. I really can't afford to buy the really top of the line cigars and I really don't experience quite the same nuances some describe while smoking them . So I'll stick with my cheapies and hopefully while I'm chewing on one end the Bass will be a chewing y the other. .., but I'd never turn down a good one either probably just wouldn't make it to the yac! πŸ€— . Be seeing ya soon I hope at the M&G πŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ™
