Nice striper Tom.
I am fairly new to fishing in Florida. I live in the Clearwater area. I have recently started to fish from a boat instead of shore. I find that to be much more entertaining and better outcomes. I find fishing with white bait/ greenbacks to have a lot better success. Shrimp is the go to bait but you catch a lot of everything with shrimp. I mainly focus on Snook, Redfish and Trout.
I have already posted these photos on this forum. Not bragging just showing what can be caught on the above bait.

I’m with you on it. Sad, while growing up hear in South Florida to see all these regulations kills me. Right down to parking meters on the beach that everyone is supposed to own in my mind. Money is nice but drives greed and once it brings in cash it will never go away. That’s GOVEMENT working for us to large and way to Greedy..!!
Catch and release, was when we had no more room in the fish box but we’re still biting:-)

Anybody tell where and how I might catch a few snook in Tampa Bay? I'm new to saltwater fishing on my own. Been out with a guide a few times.

I am fairly new to snook fishing also. I also went out with a few guides to pick they’re brain and learn from them. It was definitely worth it.
My last time out was definitely my best time out. Caught all snook and lots of them.
White bait/greenbacks is the bait to use in my experience. Fishing the shorelines/jetty’s and mangroves was where I was mostly successful.
Good luck!!!

Thank You!!!
The bigger one was 42” and the smaller one was 32”. We actually hooked into 15 fish and put 10 in the boat. All snook!!

Nice catch. What is white bait please. Thanks for the pics

Here’s a picture of White bait. I am still learning the different names and types of bait fish. White bait seems to be the bait for snook.

squirrel fish are red. that looks more like a juvenile blue stripe grunt.

My first time fishing with them. That is the name I was given by the bait shop. Then again that is how this thread started. Same bait with several different names.
