Back about the 5th, with many doctors mixed over next 2 weeks, raining in Oregon, about 2 inches in the next 7 days on the coast. Ocean white, foamy and beautiful, but strangely no one is fishing, wonder why???

Well I am now landed in Gold Beach mobile home park for the summer. I will say the light rain looks continuous for the next 3 days. I am a wimp and don't want to catch a cold. fish when sunny, before you judge, 75 yrs old long haul covid from Jan 22 grandkids, still have trouble breathing most days with oxygen fluctuating between 89 on a bad day to 95 on a very good day. That mucus is still in the lungs despite lung doctor and COVID specialist. I think I am like the post op surgery patient, learn to live with that artificial knee, it ain't going to get better. So when sunny looking forward to fishing again. The local sport shack here said stay near the breakwater for better luck. Have plenty of plastic worms and fishing poles.

coming up in a week, Apr 2023. Is there any particular time best for the perch? and how do they taste compared to rock cod and trout? Never had the perch but looking to try my luck.

Last year(all) was COVID long haul - still have a little lung issue 14 months later, did not even go to Cedar Bend golf course to hit a bucket of balls, but continued to repair house after a small garage fire the summer before from some RC batteries. so what kind of lure or bait do you use for the trolling in the bay? A spoon or an anchoive on a single/treble hook combination. I don't want to troll the whole river, just trying out a couple of 12 or 16 foot boats with 7-20 hp motors to see which one I want to keep. Being 75, the 20hp jet is a hard pull on the shoulders, so if you can't start it you can't use it. And being on the water is a plus even if I don't catch anything.

anyway about 3 April I am planning on firing up the water heater in the mobile home on the airport and look forward to a great summer of gold Beach and fishing on any of the local water. I would like to at least meet and share a lunch while you tell me your experiences.

Ed

I have heard under the poower lines down around Cattail Cove for the catfish, Bass Masters just above IN & Out and near Havasu Hospice good people to ask. They have reports too but I don't remember the address.

Getting ready to come back from Lake Havasu 1 Apr 2023 Thought about fishing the harbor, live near mobile home park and airport. Is there anything you suggest? Troll anchovies in my 12 ft skiff 7 hp motor, certain type of lures, just dinking around getting used to the skiff and salmon fishing. My experience is Havasu stripers and So Cal ocean sport fishing in the 1970-2010 time but at 75 I don't have a lot of time left to learn many new tricks.

small boats are ok, 1 publicf lunch ssite 6, others if you pay park fee. Big boats race down the middle with some wake, many pontoon type boats and all sizes 26 feet and smaller, mine is a 18 1/2 footer as an example. Site 6 on island, bring a bicycle and ride around the island 3 1/2 miles. lots to see and do, it can be a zoo, but many sights and there is a large harbor 5 mph zone so you can enjoy from jet ski to ???. Fishing is probably fair, but an example Elks fishing match, 5 fish total weight 10 pounds, just saying many of the big one gone years ago, but for fun and if 14-16 inches meets your fancy for fun, then you have it made. Using a sliding weight and say #4 or 6 size hooks I think. Too much surgery and Omicron, didn't get to fish this year much, but I remember the BASICS!!! hah

There are several walk to fishing piers provided and a place on the island, Site 6 with a public fishing pier at the end of the island by the boat launch ramp. Cannot talk about success, but anything elese is not very accessible from the highway. but the parking is free, walk is free, catching is ???. Primarily striped bass on some lures or anchoives. Local tackle shop is BASSMASTERS and very good people to question. Good Luck, highs now in the 90-105s with lows about 25 degrees lower. Weekenders are boating fanatics from here and Calif, might be fun to watch too many beers try to get the boat on the trailer at Site 6 as well. Ed

Wish all I had to recover from was taxes. Arrival has been complicated, Monday see lung doctor after another hospital stay and analysis of what the heck was growing in my lung, not cancer, but after that picture looks like a lump of beige and a tape worm, then Friday I see the ortho doctor to find out about Ortho and bursa on left shoulder, then maybe shot or maybe another othroscopic to fix a tear (whiile I was house bound recovering the Omicron long haul) just no fun here. Have another Crestliner 1650 in the front driveway sitting for 4 weeks with a new Lowrance to tryout but agin, 1 hr endurance for garge or boating. Just not the best way to spend the summer. Next week will determine my travel plans for 1 June, fingers crosssed.

I know it is wendy on the ocean, how is the wind on the river? And do the boats look like cars at Walmart around Christmas stacked up yet?

Being on water number 1 goal. 1 10 pound salmon, I would rather have the fun of 3 3 pound trout, but quite willing to eat either. Ever fished for the Steelhead runs up by the bridge launch ramp up stream?
