Let me tell you there's nothing better than getting your kid into fishing my daughter is two and a half years old she's already got a keeper striper under her belt tons of pickerel and tons of bass your best bet is to go with live bait shiners or worms in any pond is guaranteed to put some fish on the bank just make sure to teach him to be responsible fishermen and the memories will last forever I believe that is a key to keeping our kids safe just get them into nature teaches them patience responsibility and values.Good luck
