It was salvageable. You cut off all of the shattered parts back to solid rod on both pieces then and this is why you never throw away a old or broken rod now find a piece of old rod that will just fit in the big end and wrap masking tape around the rest of old piece tell it fits broken rod on inside of broken rod cover with glue and aply pressure till it holds it's like putting a splint on the brake but on the inside not the outside works great when all
