Thanks Fishyaker, I just had a lucky trip that day. Hey, I take it you fish from a kayak? Just wild guessin'. That's how I fish the majority of time.

Yeah, I hit Curtis Switch at first light and wore 'em out. I can honestly say I like the rod. It's alot better fly rod than the W-mart one. It's so much easier to "finesse" a cast. Oh, I'll be using the other for splattin' bass bugs on the lake still. It's a 5/6 8ft. with a 7/8 wf line and it casts those bugs from a kayak just fine. I'm still impressed by the Pro- Angler because it makes casting alot different.

Hey Fishyaker and Flyguy thanks again for your input. Yeah when I offered up and got it, I figured I've blown that much on stuff I regret buying. Now I have a reason to hit the river in the morning.

Well here we go.... Yup, I've seen it in person, held it in my hands. It genuinely appears to be brand new. If it isn't, it's pretty close to it. No visible wear at all. Guides check out as does the reel seat and grip. I took that leap and got it. Was$89 but I got it for $69. I can't complain, I just came in from the backyard trying it out. So far I like it. Definitely casts better than the Walmart rod I've been using. Gonna try it out on the river tomorrow morning. I'll try to take pictures of it.

I like Alaska Charlies idea. Black felt tip marker against a light background. So I tried it. Put on my fishing vest (light brown) marked about a foot of 2lb test and with the headlamp and glasses l really could see a difference. Thanks, I never thought of that.

You're right. I saw another post where someone asked when do you replace a spinning rod. My first thought was, replace? I've never replaced a rod in my life. And that's why I have as many rods as I do, I just get more of them. Who knows if this flyrod is a good deal. I kinda wanted to score a good one. I can go to Walmart and get a rod that disappoints or the flyfishing store and look at rods that cost $$$. I've only one flyrod now, I might go for it. It's better than the one I've got,but at least I can pay for it and fish that afternoon.

You are correct Fixorfish. It's at a consignment store (one with impeccable reviews) . I was brain frtin, it's graphite, two pieces, full wells cork grip, stainless steel guides with hookkeeper. It's really getting to be a point of not letting this rod win so to speak. It's a curiousity that I can't seem to find answers to.

I appreciate your reply Flyguy. It makes me feel better about passing it up. That's the kind of peace of mind I was talking about. Thanks again.

Yeah I'm sure. I went and looked today just to make sure I had the correct information. I've found Pro Angler crappie and catfish tackle. Very interesting site to be honest.

I've been experiencing that situation lately also. I found this out by accident, but it's helped. A good headlamp and a dark background. The background helps out with contrast, yet other times it's a lighter background. Either way the contrast, good light and the reading glasses almost get me there. It's frustrating to say the least but I can't stop fishing. Yeah,ultralight,2lb test and Trout magnets are a go-to for me also.
