Back in Montauk the week of October23, 2023. There were blitzes of stripers but they were far and few between. Sat on the north side and the usual stories were blitzes 2-3 casts out of range.I did manage to nail a few but another long week with only a short list of fish.
Back in Montauk in September. Once again virtually no fish, The albacore were here but Lee took care of them. 3 days and one little cocktail blue. Winds have died down today. Going back to the rocks at high tide today.
Fished Saratoga Lake the morning of June 12th. Extremely quiet except for 5 minutes around 9am. Had 3 fish in 5 minutes and then nothing again. I had a pike and two bass.
There were tons at Shinnecock as well. Spring break is over so I will need to wait until the fall. They were there until the winds turned north and east. Just bad timing.
I gave in on Tuesday and went out on the morning Ebb Tide. Stripers to 40 inches. We had to hunt for them however.
Finally when I left on Friday the winds turned to the southwest. I bet the fish started showing up but then also did the cavalcade of tourists. I have no interest once it gets crowded.
I just spent the week of 05/20/23 at Montauk, NY. The report for stripers is zero, zip, nada. Cold front came through Saturday night and turned the winds to the north and east for the entire week. I did not see one striper caught in the surf the entire week.
I keep hearing little voices in my head telling me that I should not listen to them but if I do not listen to them then I must be listening to them. It is a vicious cycle that can only end by grabbing a fishing pole and getting as far away from people as possible.
Just my luck this fall. I hit field 6 Sunday(11/6) at sunset and the following sunrise and there was nothing. I hear there were stripers in Jamaica Bay.
Montauk has been devoid of fish this fall from the surf.
By the way, there was nothing at Robert Moses, either.
Returned at sunrise the following morning and again nothing. This was 11/07/22.
Tried Field 6 at Jones Beach Sunday at sunset. Lots of lines in the water but no stripers.
Well I spent the week at Montauk and no fish. The only fish I heard of were at 1:00am in the morning for about an hour. Nothing at any other time.
Two days in and nothing but fog. Heard of a small run at 1am on Tuesday morning.
Snotty weather and no fish. A few folks out there at Clark's Cover keeping it honest. Will be back out there withing the hour(sunset).
