I ‘m holding the fish that my friend and I caught today near the 3 mile line on Seagirt reef. Chilly day but any day out fishing is wort it.
You can apply for a tag to put on one bonus fish from 24” to less than28” per bonus permit. You have to make entries in a daily fishing log and report harvest of a bonus fish. Check the NJ State Regulations.
I had a good day today. Filled the fish box with Porgy and Black Sea Bass. We fished the north east part of the Sea Girt Reef. Saw a huge Sun Fish.
No. You are not alone here.
I used to fish Holgate and Island Beach State Park back in the ‘70s & 80’s. Chasing fish on the CB radio. It’s been a while since I last surf fished.
I’m waiting for the fall migration of Stripers. The water is still too warm they won’t move out until it cools down. Then they move south. Global warming has messed with the timing.
Good sizes but sadly no Stripers.
It was balls of bait fish being pushed up by the Blue Fish.. You could probably throw a baseball to the jetties they were that close in 25 ft of water. We jigged for them using sand eel type jigs. Caught them, fought them and threw them back. Lots of fun.
I’m waiting for cooler water temps and Stripers. Black Sea Bass next week. I fish Axel Carlson reef and Sea Girt reef.
I fish the Atlantic, Manasquan River, Barnegat Bay for summer and winter flounder, Stripers, Black Sea Bass, Taug and sometimes tunas when they come close.😎
