Any advice for kayak fishing Lake Ontario?

Lake Ontario/Finger Lakes Region

Hello

I am new here and to Rochester NY. Anyone here fish in this region? I’m interested in learning more about the fish here. Lake Ontario is probably the most convenient for me. I will be fishing from the shore. What tackle is best for the fish that are in-shore in the summer? Do I need a license to fish in NY? Anything else I need to know? Thanks in advance!

New from Rochester NY

Hello. Nice to be here. I just moved to Rochester and with all the lakes here, I thought fishing would be a great new activity to try. I have seen several fishermen fishing on the shores of the lakes. I have learned that salmon is in abundance in Lake Ontario. Looking forward to grabbing tips here to start my new hobby.
