Go online and look for yourself. The Dick's where I live stopped selling fishing equipment at about the same time they stopped selling fire arms and ammunition. I guess I'm not the type of clientele they want to attract. Fine with me. I don't shop there any more.

Same for me. No fishing stuff at Dick’s. I’d go to Walmart. Academy sports has a lot of good stuff too if you have one close by.

Hey y’all. I’m looking for a longer fishing net. I have a real small one with a handle that is just long enough for one hand. I’m wanting something longer so it is easier to scoop up the fish. What do y’all suggest that is sturdy and snag resistant and easy on the bass. Thanks!

Gotcha. Good information. You inspired me to do some research about barotrauma the other day. I couldn’t find a definite solution but just that they are trying to raise awareness about the issue so something can be done soon as technology progresses. I think one major solution would just to be to say no tournaments in winter when fish go deep. But I’m sure eventually as it becomes more noticeable about this issue, there will be more people working on a solution so we Can keep fishing and doing what we love while still protecting the fish.

So what do you think is the solution for keeping bass alive in the winter when caught from deep? I know fizzing takes a lot of precious and one mistake can kill a fish

Great information. Thank you so much. I will probably try to the fin clips for a while. I’d hate to mess up and kill the fish trying to fizz it. But at the end of the day I just want the fish to be alive after released and stay alive.

Gotcha. Yeah I definitely do not want any fish to die. I am 100% trying to make sure the fish continue on with a healthy life after being caught. Thank you for information!

It can happen in the summer. But the times i have had to worry about it are in the winter. I fish in South Carolina. And a lot of times in the winter I will catch fish from 60 + feet. And bringing them up from that deep i think causes pressure in there bladder from the pressure change. And it puts Air in their bladder causing their belly to float up. So a fin clip is a small weight clipped on the outside of a fish on the fins to keep them right side up so they can breath properly without using all their energy trying to get their gills in the water

I personally have never fizzed a fish. I don’t think it’s good to put a needle in a fish after it was just hooked. But i do want to keep the fish alive in the live well. The fin clips are clipped to one or more of the fish’s fins to help keep the fish right side up so they can breath properly without using up so much energy to keep their gills underwater.

Hey y’all. I am a tournament bass angler and occasionally have to deal with bass in the live well going belly up. I had heard fin clips or flip clips are a good alternative to fizzing the fish with a needle. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about fin clips or other methods to keep bass alive in the live well. Thanks!
