I would recommend a mid price range real you can get a good spinning real for around 30 to 40 dollars. I have fished for 40 years plus and have bought 150 dollar reals and the break just as easy and don’t catch any more fish. Look for a 5 or more ball bearing real that feels smooth. Get a midsize not large or the small. Rod , look for a six or six and half ft rod with at least 7 eyes. A good overall action is medium fast action. 39 to 59 dollars. Just my opinion. Good luck.
Thank you. I can’t do the Canada trips anymore either but I retired and moved to Missouri from Indiana six years ago. Lots of great fishing here.
June and July I like that area for small mouth. And of the cuts and points of the cuts. I like a Ned rig with p&j color jigging in about 20 ft of water. Many time I can catch 20 or 30 in an outing. Not all big but occasionally a 3 pounder or so.
I’ve been on beaver a couple of times. I live near Branson mo. I would love to catch a striper but don’t know where or how to start. I am a daily fisherman. Crappie, blue gill, bass and now doing more walleye fishing but never have caught a stopper
I joined this group to learn a few things. I am a pretty good crappie and blue gill fisherman. I’m decent at bass fishing and trout fishing. I want to learn more on walleye fishing. I used to go to Canada annually and did ok. Here I fish Stockton lake mo. And bull shoals as well as table rock lake, Taneycomo and then some on beaver lake Arkansas. I usually jig fish with crawlers but need to learn more about other techniques when that is not working. I also would like to understand their habits throughout the year. All three lakes have walleye but Stockton by far has the most. Anyone that fishes these your input is appreciated.
