Hi Brian, I go by Mark and live in Mayodan (north of Greensboro, just south of Va. line). I am 66 years old and have fished all my life, of course family and work got in the way for a while but I'm now retired. i am enjoying life that pretty much consist of hunting, fishing and gardening. I live near Belews Creek lake and fish it along with some watersheds near us, Greensboro's Lake Brandt and Reidsville City Lake. I have access to several farm ponds and I really enjoy kayak fishing those.

Hi Mark, I live on the south side of Lake Brandt and have fished it from time to time. I'm 68 years and have been fishing off and on for 20 years. My passion is flyfishing, particularly Trout, even though I do regular casting every once in a while, particularly if I go out fishing with the missus.

We just discovered a good Hatchery Trout stream which is maintained by NC Wildlife up by the VA border, just over an hour away from our house - close enough to spend an afternoon there. Its up Hwy 220, right past Mayodan.

Like you, I'm fortunate enough to have access to a good sized pond just up the road which has largemouth, bream and crappies, and a pair of 18" carp. We are catch-and-release because the neighbours use the pond to teach their kids how to fish (as I did my my sons). The pond is also convenient for practicing fly casting (there are flat areas as well as treed).

Is the Mayo river by you and is the fishing any good? Any spots in the area that you would recommend ?
