Let me know if anyone knows what the last one is, and has anyone ever used a light like the last one in the picture of the lights?[/quote The last one is a smoke detector that plugs in the wall socket. We had one growing up. My dad had a planter like that converted to pull behind his pony tractor.
My dad used to freeze catalpa worms in milk boxes. We also used milk boxes/cartons to freeze many other things. One day my sister went to get huckleberries from the freezer. She came in with a carton of catalpa worms. No she did not make muffins with the catalpa worms. It seems the catipillers little round heads were dark and they floated with the head up so they looked a lot like huckleberries. Just saying we kept fish bait in the same freezer as our other food and at least once was picked up as food.
Use to be called Telephoning Fish. From the old phones that hung on the wall with a hand crank. It was really a Megger and generated an electrical current when cranked. Throw the lines in the water and crank the handle.
I actually did this in NC in a river where it was legal. Dropped a wire, cranked the phone, catfish tried to get out of the water. Scoop the fish up in a wire net. We dressed them and went to the picnic area by the Lock. Fried fish, hush puppies and French fries all afternoon. Had a great time. …over fifty years ago
I remember the Saturday morning movies. 10 cents. Carried a grocery paper bag of homemade popcorn to eat while watching the movies. Movies were 50 cents on base when I went into the USAF.
If you go to Holden Beach and turn left after the bridge you can drive to the end of the road. From there you could walk down to the inlet and fish from the shore. You could go to the beach or to the icw from there. Good luck catching!
