I have never fished Mayo river but the lake is awesome. Clear water lots of fish and beautiful scenery. If you get a chance gosh that resevoir. You will not be disappointed.
Fishing from the bank is a challenging task. So often the availability of ponds and lakes with bank fishing opportunities is a constant challenge. The bigger lakes in the triangle have very limited bank access. The smaller bodies of water are often private and dont allow fishing at all. I’ve live here 35 years still find it difficult to find available access. I eventually lucked up and joined a fishing association that gives me access to a private lake stock full of bass. I think the smartest thing I can offer is purchasing a kayak or Jon boat to give yourself greater ability to have access and open up a new world with unlimited possibilities. I know that may not be the answer your looking for but it has changed my fishing experience truly dramatically.
Does anyone have much experience fishing Sheron Harris? If so where are the mst obvious spots to fish, and what are you using for bait. Best structure for n the lake and maybe seasonal changes. Thanks.Brian
Hey my name is Brian and I love to bass fish. Any other parties looking for folks to fish with. I have access to a private lake and have key to fish there. Can use my boat. But I am also looking to find farm ponds to fish is the area. Thanks, Brian.
Yes my wife is abuts eat Duke. I worked there too in pediatrics. She is the reason I’m alive. Best darn nurse there is. I love her dearly. She’s 10 years my junior. She too has health problems but continues to work. You sound like a wonderful couple. I’m happy you have one another. Hey listen life I’m finding is quite short. I find people sometimes are less kind then I remember. It great to run into a nice person. You I think are one of those. If you ever need to talk or just blow off some steam, don’t hesitate to use my phone number. Hey it’s not like I have a lot to do. Lol. No matter what keep up the good fight. One day at a time you will get it done. Again I enjoy the discussion about fishing or life. Sincerely, Brian
So good of you to respond so quickly. I too ama cancer survivor like you. I have had stage four throat and lung cancer (2014 and 2017). I understand not getting things done. I have very little reserve energy and im short of breath on exertion. It’s difficult to launch and put up my boat for me. I’m glad you are on the mend. I’d love to meet sometime. I hope you do very well my friend. I’m so happy to be able to fish. I know you are too. Sincerely, Brian.
Hey nice to hear from you. Are you living at Kerr? Yes well it is going to be a busy week. I have never surf fished but I’ve been contacted by a man who lived on Huntington Beach in Calif. he now lives in Fuguay Varina I think. He is quite anxious to organize a group of four or five guys to drive to Wilmington/area beaches and surf fish. His name is Neil and he is a very nice guy. I can forward your number to you if you’d like. Suffice to say I fish a lot in the triangle RDU and would love to get together to fish. I don’t have a beautiful Ranger boat with all the fixings’. I’ve got a 2004 Basstracker V-16 Sc that isn’t the prettiest thing afloat but I like her just the same. Got a good trolling motor and main motor and it runs great with two people around 25 mph. She sips gas and can run for three days on a trolling motor charge. Little storage. But no worries I’ve got plenty of tackle. Test me if you’d like to make some plans. I’m happy to drive up to Kerr also.
Neil, it’s Brian Hershberger. I’m so sorry I haven’t gotten back to you I lost your number in my list file. I forgot to send it to a new contact in my phone directory. Please send me your phone number. Also I am going to have a really busy two weeks. I’m preparing for a family trip to lake Gaston next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, returning Monday morning. My Sister from Fla. will be visiting for the day then I am off to Emerald Isle to spend the week with my wife at a friends condo. I know those were potential times for us to drive to beach in Wilmington. When I get back we can actually have the rest of the month to go. If you need to go before then I understand. It’s a super busy week because I lost my boat title somewhere and can’t seem to find it. Now I must go to DMV to get a temporary title to take to Virginia next weekend as well as purchase fishing license. Which reminds me my fishing licens for North Carolina is going to only cover inland fishing I need to pay for full license to cover me for surf fishing. I may have a friend with a rod and reel for surf fishing he says he’s never going to use. He offered it to me for a good price. Anyway I look forward to hearing from you. Sorry about my upcoming schedule but it’s family stuff.

Where do you live Gary, and where do you like to fish?
Hey Julian, I was very happy to get your note. I live in Hillsborough, just west of Durham and North of Chapel Hill. As I said I'm fairly new to this, ( only been fishing just shy of two years ), but I have been very sick for the last seven years. Stage 4 Cancer times two. First throat then Lung. I'm betting you have a great deal of life experiences also. If your interested please contact me at Buddhadharma1@gmail.com. I'd love to talk about fishing and hear your experiences. I look forward to hearing from you. Most Sincerely, Brian
Waste is a very strong term. Bass are smart cunning animals. Perhaps in saltwater sensitivity is not as big an issue, but is a grass or rock filled pond or lake sensitivity is a key factor. We’re not talking about a $600 Loomis rod, we’re talking about a step up in sensitivity with a difference of $50. It’s small price to pay for feeling a light bite you might otherwise had missed because of an average rod. Don’t get me wrong I’m not an Ugly Stik hater, I’m just saying for a few dollars more chances are your going to catch more fish and after all that’s the point.
