Sounds good! Let me know if you get a chance to hit Lake Houston. I am prepping for the crappie spawn. The weather has greatly improved and is looking promising in a few days.
Hello Texas Terry, went by the bait shop near Sheldon Lake around 7am, unfortunately they were closed. I went out on Lake Houston on Feb 24th. and had no luck. Fishing was deader than a door knob. Its been a very long time since I was zonked! (meaning I didn't even get a bit!). The freeze that occurred the week prior really took its toll on fishing on the lake. Hopefully, once it begins to warm up (Pre-Spawn), the fish will become active again.
Thanks...the bait shop is still there!
Hello Jemstone90, the links you sent me were not correct. The lake I am interested in is as follows: Lake Houston located in Houston, Harris County, Texas. I would appreciate if you could forward me the link for Harris County. Thanks...
Looking for a bait shop that carry minnows on Lake Houston down on the south end of the lake near the dam and/or the park. Any recommendations?
Hello Badbobby,
Thank you for the heads-up! A lot of very good information. I have fished at Sheldon Lake in the past from the bank and did not have much luck. I was fishing for crappie and bluegill. Now that I have a boat, that should expand my options. There is another smaller body of water between Lake Houston and Sheldon Lake. I do not recall the name of the lake but, I believe it is connected to the Reservoir. Any insight you can give on this body of water will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Waterdoglured, this is just what I am looking for...
Hello Robert,
Yea, I did a little fishing in Galveston Bay some years ago. However, I have gone back to my youth and have gotten back in to fishing for crappie and bluegill. As a kid, I always thought crappie and bluegill was the best tasting fish, bar none. So hopefully, I will be able to fill the freezer this year.

Interested in learning detail information on Lake Houston. Where is the best place to launch a boat. Where is the best place to get information on the lake itself, i.e. what is the condition of the water, what is the water level, what depth are the fish are biting at, and is there a fishing group that is based at Lake Houston?
