What do you need to know ? Bring
a FAT wallet - food/lodging are not cheap up there !

Also, here's some info that may
pique your interest - Az. Fish &
Game and the Federal Park
Service have teamed up and
are offering a 'bounty' on all
brown trout over 6 inches
caught/kept between the Glen
Canyon Dam and the outflow of
the Paria River (near Lee's Ferry) !

To collect the rewards, you need
to submit the head, tail and
entrails of each brown trout to
the Az. F & G Dept. - the bounty started at $25/fish last year when
this program started, and went up
to $33/fish in March of 2021 !

There are also bonus/incentive
prizes available, so you may want
to look up any further details !

In regards to lodging, weather, etc.,
you should PM Jim Sargent (if he doesn't post a reply) - he has more/better direct knowledge
of that immediate area !

Thanks that helps a lot. I heard about the Brown Trout bounties. I'd be happy to catch almost anything. Fishing out in SOCAL gets old unless you have a big boat to get you out on the blue water. Just so cramped and pier fishing has become a huge fad so there are lots of people to deal with at my local fishing holes unless you go at o' dark thirty. I'll keep all this in mind. BTW, do the local fish prefer any certain lure over another?

Hey whats going on im from the area what u wanna know im thinking i can help ya

Well, honestly i'm not even sure what to ask because i literally don't know anything about the area. Mainly, wanted to find out if this is worth a 9-10 Hr trip from SOCAL, and need some help determining that.

1. When is the best time to go in the fall (for fishing/camping) and how will the weather be?

2. Is it crowded around this time?

3. What are some good fishing spots here?

4. How is the lodging/ camping?

5. Are there any special licensing or regulations to follow for fishing and camping in the area?

6. Other local activities or places to visit?

I'm not even sure if I want to go yet, but I've heard from the internet (Googled Top AZ Parks for Fishing) its not a bad place to fish. But you know there can be a disconnect between what people say on a website, and what the local Arizonians think. I only have 4 days of vacation to waste so i have to make it worth my while ya know?

I'm interested in going this fall for a 3-5 day trip. In particular i want to fish for Rainbow Trout. I am not yet sure if I will be camping or staying in a hotel/ Airbnb.

What do i need to know before i go? What should i expect in regards to the weather, and facilities in the area?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not giving up on berkley power baits and these worms may be just what I need. Everyone has told me powerbaits can't go wrong. What color and size do you recommend?

That's what going after. I'm going to see if there's anything biting this afternoon. Probably not a good time, but the weather is just so nice.

Hello again everyone. So as before I explained I'm new to fishing in San Diego. I've conquered the aquatic monsters of the deep South, now want to go after the Leviathans of the big lakes in the San Diego County.

My new target is Rainbow Trout. Ive heard they are very popular here and routinely stocked in the lakes. I've tried Santee Lakes to no avail. However it was just stocked yesterday so I was planning on going back soon.

What is the secret? Powerbaits didn't work last time, nor the old reliable nightcrawlers. Is it even worth going when the lakes are between stocking schedules? Any suggestions or recommended fishing locations?

Greetings! Im excited to be here and looking forward to reading tips and meeting new anglers in the area. I'm from Ohio, but I have spent time fishing in Mississippi.

I'm relatively new to fishing in San Diego. I have started fishing in the lakes and piers around here, and just looking for any insight for how to be successful. Salt or freshwater, I just want to land some nice fish.

Thanks for reading and good luck fellow anglers!
