i have used facebook to catch a glimpse of area activity.. many times i find that charter captains will show successful trips with clients,.. a small glimpse but it does help
i have posted before about fishing the laguna madre and fishing in the south padre area and have found the response to be few.. i hope we can get this rolling with some fellow fishermen and women to help narrow the target area.. soooo much laguna madre and so little time and gas,..
fishing conditions and catches in the laguna madre from port mansfield to south padre, also anybody catching ?
I have over the past few years had many helpful hints as to WHERE ARE THE FISH TODAY. Answers like long bar, south bay , etc.. but i tell you, that is a lot of area... So can we narrow it down a little? I see a lot of sheephead coming from the ship channel north of the causeway.... So why are jetty fish being caught nowhere near a jetty or pilings ?
So, I'm just wondering where to find current, the most current views of the laguna madre near port isabel. like south bay, old bridge. long island. something better than 2 year old google.. so what ya got?
GOOD NEWS, THE SHRIMP ARE BACK IN THE BROWNSVILLE CHANNEL. SAW THE SHRIMPING CREW GO OUT AND BACK IN WITH ABOUT 3HOURS OF TRAWLING COME IN WITH GREAT CATCHES.. A COUPLE GUIDES CAME IN WITH GOOD CATCHES OF SHEEPHEAD AND KEEPER TROUT.. ACTION IS PICKING UP
shrimp are in, boats out yesterday brought in 30-40 quarts, it has been 5-6 quarts in past weeks , so happy days are on the way, rumor has it drum on boca chica jetty , ocean side more than channel
the guides have been bringing in good stringers lately, they have live shrimp and a supply from ? . local shrimpers i know still not getting enough shrimp to pay for fuel so maybe 2 to 6 dozen at best a crew went out this morning so will try and see what they caught when they come in if i am still around.. rumor is big fish in brownville turning basin in front of harbor master building
i watched a guide come in today he had four charters on board, brought in 10 fish mostly specs 1 red just legal,.. a lot of the specs in the 16-17 range so things will get easier i hope best regards
January has been a problem, The charter guy from across the way has been laying low, with cold weather, it is a time to rest, repair. Better weather on the way. furnace just kicked on so maybe going to be on the way.
