Welcome Jyack,
You might checkout Wilderness with Anime on YouTube. He from Reno and fishes all the locale spots. I’ve seen four or five videos of him fishing at Stampede, but always in late winter when water levels are higher and the water is colder. He most always fishes off the bottom with warms or power bait.
Hope that helps
I fished Donner lake for three hours this morning and not a nibble or a break.
Hey srmuskie,
I hear that it’s good fishing at the 102 Ranch Restoration project east of Mustang on the Truckee. I was out there yesterday to check it out and saw 6or 7 people fishing the river and ponds.
When the weather clears I plan on fishing there. Regs require barbless hooks so plan ahead.
Thanks. Got some really good info here. I’ll send pics if I hook up.
Thanks, will pick up a couple today.
Thanks for the input. I’ll give that a try on Tuesday. You think water temp plays a part in their activity level?
I’m fishing in Nevada. Double checked the regs and there are no restrictions along the section I fish.
It’s a legal nightmare in Nevada when it comes to the Truckee also. I have a couple of Panther Martins I’ll try and night crawlers also. Didn’t start up fishing again until spring so winter fishing is all new to me. I have some plastic Gulp lures also. I got the stuff just not the knowledge. Haha! Thank you.
I have used flies with a bobber in the past. I’ll have to keep an eye out this spring for the hatch. I have about fifty flies so should be able to get something close. Thanks for the help!
Right now I’m fishing the Truckee river mostly. The river is low but still has many deep spots. What would you recommend for bait in this situation. I’m mostly a bait caster.
