I can't think of a nicer birthday.
Also look into the fishing at Fort Freemont on St. Helena. River side just behind the fort. Look up the tides before you go because you can only cast from the beach at 3 hours hightide and 3 hours after. When the tide is out, you would need a boat to fish - shore line is only a foot deep at low tide for several hundred yards out.

New to this looking where are good spots to fish in Beaufort.
If you are a Marine, I have been told that MCAS has some waters on that base that are the best fishing in Beaufort.
Also try Hunting Island state park for surf fishing on the island and their fishing pier. Also, check out this for official county accessible locations.

Great to see. Bobber! I always love seeing a child's face when they are experiencing catching nice fish. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome M. I am also in Beaufort but haven't had a chance to fish yet this year due to my wife's health.
Welcome Castaway Bluffton.
I am in Beaufort and what time I get to fish anymore, I usually go to the Hunting Island State Park Fishing Pier or surf at Hunting Island. I have caught sharks (not intentionally), whiting and red fish there in the surf.
Hi! I live in Beaufort on Lady's Island right outside St. Helena and fish that area frequently. Look up Beaufort county parks or fishing spots and they will direct you to public access fishing piers. Also, there is good fishing pier at Hunting Island beach but I don't know how active the fishing it is right now - I had shoulder surgery in March and can't fish for another month. I usually use shrimp or cut mullet bait but shrimp usually works best for me.
If you are going to fish from the dock on your rental - do this:
On your may to St. Helena, you have to end up on Sea Island Parkway that leads to St. Helena. You will see a Publix on your right then a mile or so down there will be a Walmart on your left. Go past the Walmart about a half a mile and your will see an Exxon on the left at a stop light. Past that intersection, you will see about a half dozen houses on the right and the last one will be a tiny white house sitting farther back from the road with trailers and sometimes boats parked out front. It is a bait shop - stop in there and those guys will tell you what is hitting and your best bait choices.
Welcome to the area and good luck!
I have been fishing on the Beaufort River (tidal river) and doing pretty well with Whitings. I have also caught a few skates.
Just using frozen bait shrimp for now. I intend to fill my live bucket with live shrimp in the next week or two for flounder fishing in the same area using a Carolina Rig.
FARMBOY, how did it go with the vinegar based sauce over the weekend? Steve
