I started with inshore fishing in the bay area, California but only managed to accidentally reel in small fish. I tried to fish for almost a year and got tired of not getting anything worth wild, so I bought a baitcaster and go to my local lakes. I've been to my local lakes maybe more than a dozen times and can't fish anything. I've tried several rigs, hook sizes, I tried to target different species and can't feel a nibble. I've tried fishing near brush and vegetation. I usually fish between 1pm- 9pm since I work early morning. After buying 3 different rods and reels thinking it's because of the gear I have, I kinda wanna quit fishing. Any tips?

I hear your pain brother, been out 7 times and nothing! I bought some decent gear and ive tried all lures and bait and nothing. Thats why its upsetting to see catch and release videos. Those are private planted ponds., i believe its all fished out. I think im gonna sell all my stuff
I hear your pain bro, been out 6 times and no matter what i use i still get skunked! Havent caught a fish all year. Pisses me off when i hear all these comments of catch and release. Oh and i have spent good money on decent gear. There are no more fish. All these people showing off their catches on the internet are on private ponds and stuff im sure. Oh its just fun going out in nature.
Where are you from? State?
Thanks i bought a st croix 7' truimph and a berkely cherrywood. Both med fast. I am still building my arsenal but its hard to justify when havent caught a fish. Lol
Thanks mike, i have been out about 5 or 6 times this year and i havent caught one fish yet. I need to spend more time out there. I fish mainly from banks and use live baits on bobbers and carolina rigs for float baits. I use a daiwa bg 2500 on a berkely cherrywood med fast rod. Idk know what im doing wrong. Any tips?
I will try that asap! Thank you
I bought some fishing gear last year and my daughter gave me a rod and real combo for christmas, well i've been out 5 times to rivers and lakes and i have yet to catch a fish. I fish central california, merced river, lake yosemite, lake mcswain and lake mcclure. I fish from the bank and have tried anything from crappie jigs, kastmasters rooster tails, trout float bait, bobbers with worms and not one effen fish! What am i doing wrong?
