Hey Mark, I live up closer to Sandy Hook and I agree with what these guys Said above, Last year the fish were from the Raritan Bay around the tip of Sandy Hook and all the way down the Jersey Shore To LB I. Get back on this site about 2 weeks before you are coming here And we will be able to give you some better information. Otherwise keep checking fishing reports from Jersey Shore beat and tackle shops and boat captains. If you are not already a member of on the water magazine, Go online and sign in for free. They file very efficient reports for UP and down the entire Jersey coast. Good luck.

Hey frog, Nice way to start the day with an early catch. Are you fishing on the Bayside or the Oceanside, And what type of rig do you prefer fishing with.

Hey guys, The fishing has been strange, Last week we had a full day of fishing in the Raritan Bay, action pretty consistent. This week fishing was good for about 3 hours and then shut down we caught nothing for the next 3 hours. About 3 days ago myself and about a dozen other fishermen from the shoreline of the naversink river were catching fish nonstop, 2 days ago they were only on the opposite side of the river, And yesterday they were not there at all. The river is loaded with adult bunker And a lot of them are starting to die off. By the time I think I can post a good spot for you guys it is done . Hopefully some consistency will start on the shorelines of the raritan Bay and when they do I will post. Good luck and tight lines.

Hey Ron Moll, Nice catch, I can already see those thick white fillets baking in the oven. I hope your kayak is well lit for fishing after sunset, My experience in the Raritan Bay has been lots of boat traffic that don't carefully watch where they're going. Good luck, Be careful out there. I am going out again this Tuesday, Will post results

Hey trout bum, Welcome aboard, I am almost the same age as you and have the same retirement aspirations. I have fished the beaver kill many times. First, Take route 17 west to the town of Roscoe ( Trout town USA) Where you will find a couple of fly shops. I have always found these guys happy to discuss the patterns that are being used with today's water conditions. You will be within a short distance of the Junction pool, This is where the beaver kill and the willowemack rivers meet . This pool holds lots of fish but is heavily fished. Each river is smaller water going upstream And heavier water going down stream After the Junction pool, But all these waters can be fished with a pair of waders. You will find ample marked pull off areas to park your car and work your way down to the river. There are many miles of river so there are always stockfish and hold overs. It's a beautiful area. Good luck.. p.s. If you need a meal the Roscoe diner is your spot.

A lot of the kayakers were fishing further back in by the railroad bridge. They have been back there for about 2 weeks already and from what I understand they have been successful.

Have fished a couple of back Bay locations in the Shrewsbury and Neversink river and have not yet gotten any bass. Went out yesterday on charter boat and fished back of Raritan Bay very successfully, But all fish seem to be staged away from the beaches. 6 guys on boat had approximately 50 bass And about 75% of them were keepers the other 25% were all slot fish. Fish fished with 5 inch white or green paddle tails on on 3 oz jig heads. 100% feeding on bottom.

Just heading home after full day of black fishing out of Belmar. It was not a good day, Only about 10 keepers on a boat that had 50 people fishing, Most people including myself only had a couple of hitsAnd did not catch a single fish . It was a beautiful day on the water, We had a pod of dolphins swim right under our anchor loans Past the front of the boat. Oh well, I will have to stop at the supermarket for dinner on the way home, But I will be back out here next week To try again.

Headboats out of Atlantic islands have tied up for the Winter After the last few trips were disappointing. Last week the reports from the ocean Explorer out of Belmar were good, This week the reports haven't been as good but I will be fishing with them tomorrow , So I will report back with how the day goes.

After last week's deep freeze I think the last of the stripers started heading South fast and just kept going. No signs of any fish left up by Sandy Hook, All professional boats have stopped looking for them after a number of days without finding anything.

In defense of us New Jersey dummies...LOL..... I was one of a crowd of about 500 people who went in for a polar plunge New Year's Day to support local charities... The stripers are gone so I wasn't worried about scaring them away, It's time for blackfish and codfish. The polar plunge is just a good preparation for the long cold days on a boat, and Just the same when the day is done and the fishing was good it was all worth it. Get out your Winter gear and let's go fishing.
