Memphis: Welcome to Fishing Forum! You have come to the right place. This will cost you, but fishing alone will also cost in the long run because of not knowing where and what to use, also costs! Just Sayin...RJS

From where you are, I suggest you go to Texoma and hire a guide to fish on Texoma. The stripers are a reasonable target with experienced guides.

Well, from the look on that darlin' girl's face, there were actually two hookings! The fish and she were both firmly hooked for life, even though the fish's life was over quickly. Just Sayin...RJS

Well, the madam must have figured at the retail price of her girls' services this would be a profitable night! Just Sayin...RJS

Come to think about it, I am probably responsible for Tacova Boots and Western gear because I was a satisfied customer of their cowboy crocodile boots and the Forum might be a good market for their products. Now this appeared because I made direct contact to the owners of Tacova. Just Sayin...RJS

Well, not long ago I posted a story that was advice to grandfathers on what they might consider as gifts for their grandsons. It had to do with fielding trick questions thrown at a young college graduate who was applying for a sales position. In this article I wrote, I mentioned Mont Blanc pens. Hardly had I signed off when Mont Blanc was advertising on the Forum. I was both annoyed and impressed with the efficiency of their jumping on my 'nibble'! Just Sayin...RJS

Hello Dan: Welcome to the Forum. I was born and raised in North Texas, Cooke County, graduated 1957 from University of North Texas. I will soon turn 90 so don't fish much any more, but if I can help, I know a little bit about Texoma, and fishing in the Texas Gulf Coast. Just Sayin...RJS

Regardless the cost, it is worth it for you, and double that for your mother. Often we don't pay enough attention and love for the one who brought us into this world! Just Sayin...RJS

I looked to see exactly where Lake Bois d Arc is located. I was surprised to see the map and where Gainesville is located. If you follow the Red River west to where the Cooke County line and Montague County meet, and with Red River on the north, that is were I was raised! Just Saying...RJS

Contrary to what young boys carry in their pockets today, or their being hooked on computer games, when I was a kid, we carried pocketknives all the time among other things.

From personal experience a sharp pocketknife is far safer to use than a dull one. A dull, unsharpened knife will require more than one attempt at cutting anything you are trying to cut, unless it is hot butter!

A dull knife blade requires much more force and may slip and cut you or the item you are attempting to cut in a unsatisfactory manner.

My father was raised before there were automobiles. He was more familiar with horses and working with teams. He could repair harnesses or repair our leather shoes. His pocket knife was always sharp as a razor. Pocket knives were essential to cut thick pieces of leather. He had other knives when he would be shoeing horses, to both clean the hooves, but also to trim their hooves around the new steel horseshoes. Just Sayin…RJS

Briann17: I have to confess your name, or the misuse of it caused me great embarrassment. I had just started to work for Humble Oil, now Exxon.

The assistant regional manager was named Snodgrass, but I wasn't familiar with the correct spelling and sent him a not and addressed it Snotgrass, being ignorant of the correct spelling.

I looked it up and it had an interesting history in England and Scotland. Just Sayin...RJS

When I was a kid, probably about the 5th grade, it was fall of the year and there was always a carnival and fair in Gainesville, TX the county seat.
I was wandering around and a carnival barker asked me to play a game where a large ball, big as a basket ball would roll down and stop on one of about 4 places. If you had put your quarter on the winning spot, they gave you a prize. I think it was one dollar! Well, I think I was selected to win and attract others who hoped to win as well! Any way, I won about 5 dollars for being a shill for this game. Just Sayin...RJS
