Hello there Wally, my name is JRFLORES (I feel stupid for repeating name that's already at the heading. Well, I'm a new member as of today and I live in SAN Antonio TX now but used to live in Corpus Christi TX and Portland TX and enjoyed saltwater fishing and went as far as to buy me a used boar for cheap cuz I had alot of work to do to it electrically AND good thing the motor just needed minor tune-up and rewired which I was able to do on my own and was able to take it out to the boat hole area that was just off the Naval Air Station where I worked as an airplane mechanic and was able to take my boat on base with me before my work shift and was READY to hit the water as soon as my shift was over after working graveyard shift. I finally figured out that the best catches I had were during the winter time when the first COLD front came in ( and I mean that it had to be cold ), my fishing has slowed down to zero fishing since moving to San Antonio even though we have 2 lakes ( 1 with freshwater redfish ) cuz I've been to both and spent all day using boat and never even caught one single fish . I love fishing just for the sport and release them after taking pictures. In Corpus Christi if I fished off piers and I felt too lazy to take fish off the hook, there wete always some phillipinos near by and I would tell them that if they took fish off the hook that they could keep them IF they were of limit and there'd be a several of them that PRACTICALLY argue on that they were next to take my fish off. LOL'S How much fishing do you still manage to do? Are you a live bait user or artificial lurer user? I never had too much luck with lures myself. Hope that I didn't bore you with what seems that all I seem to talk about was me. Glad to know you.

I know of several area's to fish if anyone is interested in if they're planning on visiting Corpus Christi TX with or without a boat. Usually the best fishing is when the first COLD front gets into town but because of the new laws housing association put into effect, a boat is required at the Isand to the right of the JFK bridge where all the channels running into the condominiums and very expensive houses are at, you need to use the boat ramps under the JFK bridge in order to get to the channels and when you find bouys [hope that I spelled it right] drop anchor a short distance away from it and use live bait and be ready for the HITS that'll follow, BUT you gotta do this fishing when it's the coldest weather possible because that's when all types of fish go into the channels. Before the law of you having to live in the comunity, 6 friend's and I went fishing off Fortuna Bay street where the bouy is located at a little after midnight and caught at least 200lbs. Of fish within the hour. The fish ranged from butterfly drum, black drum, red fish, trout and even one flounder using live shrimp. I recommend driving to find the street Fortuna Bay to familiarize yourself for the area you want to get the boat to and I guarantee you that you'll catch fish around the bouy but make sure it's cold as can be whether it's day or night time. If anyone does take this seriously and actually goes to this location to fish, let me know how it went. REMEMBER... that it's got to be a very cold day for my information on catching fish to be one great day for you and company. When I went fishing off Fortuna Bay I wore 2 top and bottom thermal underwear beneath my pants and sweatshirt and my winter insulated coveralls cuz that's how COLD I felt it was along with the wind gust of about 20-30 MPH and temperature at about 22° . Good luck
