Smitty, I like your style. It must have something to do with a New England attitude. I’m from originally from NH (neighbor) and my outlook seems to align with yours.
Does anyone know what I can expect if I am caught fishing with this kayak and have no registration? I am 74 years old so fishing license is not Required in Florida, my only concern is the boat registration?
Thanks guys. I’m not feeling very optimistic. I have an Ascend and a Lifetime kayak and no receipt for either. Can’t the state do a records search based on the serial numbers To verify that it hasn’t been reported stolen? Does anybody know what the potential repercussions are if I get pinched with no registration?
Thanks Smitty, I was just trying to know what to expect before waiting in line for half a day to register
Hi guys,
I’ve been lurking in the background for awhile and now I need some advice.
I purchased a 10 ft kayak about 5 years back.Getting older so Last month I purchased a Trolling motor. Now I will have to register the kayak. I do not have the bill of sale or a title of any sort necessary to register in Florida.Has anybody else come across this problem and if so how was it resolved. Thanks in advance
Thanks all for your help. Probably saved me hours of trial and error. The 20# was very stiff. Reel is rated for 10#mono. I’ll swap out the 20#mono for 8 to 10# and the soak the reel in warm water. Again thanks
Neglected to thank you for your reply, apologies
20# may be too much. It is what I had on hand. I’m sure I spooled it in right direction. Do you think I may have set the tension on the spooler too tight or too loose? I am willing to repeat the process as many times as necessary (process of elimination) It may be time consuming and require miles of mono but probably do-able. Do you think I can reuse the same line each time?Just wondering what others have done. Or if anyone has used this spooler.
Hey guys,I was gifted a Piscifun reel spooler for Christmas. Had to try it out. I spooled 20# Berkley mono with a 1/4 oz sinker onto a gx2 ugly stick combo. I believe I followed the instructions correctly but it was a disaster. The line would continue to jump off the spool after each cast. I have respooled a few other reels in the past by hand with varying degrees of success but have not run into this problem. Is it me or the spooler? Give it to me straight, I can take it.
Thanks all for the replies. I’ll give DOA’s a shot. I have tried them in the past with little success. After watching a few videos, maybe I need to work on my retrieve. Are they scented? How do you store them? Can I store them in salt water or Gulp juice or am I overthinking this? Thanks again.
For the same reason I enjoy kayak fishing. I want to simplify my time on the water. One less thing to deal with. No bucket to work around. Just a pole a small Plano box and bait that doesn’t need to be kept alive and replaced every 2nd or third cast. I can appreciate a quiet relaxing day on the water almost as much as a boatload of fish. Just lazy I guess.
Hi guys, I’m looking to ween myself from depending on shrimp. What do you recommend for artificial (soft) baits. I fish mostly from a kayak, inshore flats, around the ‘Cootie river on the gulf northwest of Tampa. Water is brackish, bottom is grass or murky, some oyster bars, 5 to 15 feet deep.Looking for redfish, sheepshead,
Thanks guys, two 5 lb weights on retractable clothes lines worked great. Plastic guides fore and aft and on each side give plenty of options for deployment. Longer lines helped also. No more drift and no more excuses for getting skunked. Thanks again.
Thanks, I like the idea of the weights, I’m thinking of 5 lb weights on 2 retractable dog leashes. One up front and one for the rear as needed, or do you think a trolley would be more practical?
Thanks but won’t the weights sink in also. Gone ass over tea kettle before trying to free a stuck anchor.
