There was no immigration policies at that time in regards to testing the influx of European immigrants entering our country. Yes it was wrong, but we do not have the technology that we had today!
Ellis island immigration center was not established until 1859. I’ve been there and looked up my grandparents records when they immigrated here in 1920. I’ve read all their records. They were screened for many of the known diseases at the time. I also witnessed the holding facilities for those that were denied entry due to their potential disease status. The polio v******tion was not established until 1959, along with many other v*****es that are now required for all potential citizens and students entering our public school system. My father who is a Marine vet has told many times how many shots that that he endured just to serve knowing that he would be dispatched to a third world country!
I’m sure that u encountered the same!
My point is a simple question! Regardless of if immigration status you must meet our v******tion requirements!
