wackadoodle? haven't heard that one but I actually like it and agree with you. I might have to add that to my vocabulary. wonder if a wackadoodle is related to a Yankeedoodle both are dandy words

Is wackadoodle a right or left word?
Yankeedoodle sounds right to me.

Funny, my first thought before great fish and congratulations was that looks like a perch on a perch lure.

Greetings:

I am new to this forum and I'm hoping to glean some sage advice from those who fish in the St. Louis area regularly. What is being caught and what bait is being used? Right now, my husband and I kayak and fish lakes in eastern Missouri.

Welcome aboard fellow Missourian!

Right now yellow chartreuse spinners are getting clobbered by bass, crappie, and rock bass. I use a couple different types, crappie size chrome willow blade seems the best right now. Could change tomorrow.

Leaving it sit on the bottom or bobber near bottom for minimum 10 minutes.
Bait is almost anything from soap, fresh or spoiled poultry and guts. I do well with a big night crawlers. Some marinate hot dogs or chicken in jello powder overnight. The cheapest bait are 4” aprox bluegill you can catch easily. Sometimes you’ll end up with a whopping bass. Don’t expect a big hit. A catfish is likely to pick up the bait while cruising by. Fight starts when you set the hook. Helps to have a swivel and steel leader for the big ones. They will head for deep cover, snag and break off light tackle. There are very big catfish in SEMO. Lots of bluegill to fatten them up.

Types I’ve tangled with around here are bullhead, channel, flathead, and blue.

Good Luck and Welcome fellow Missourian!

Not into the alternative methods.

Tried noodling once. Not into feeding my fingers to turtles and snakes.

Nice catch and congratulations to Tim.

Mike you have not been a member 3 days and make a statement like this? In that short time you have gathered those FACTS? Or have you been lurking for a while?
If so why did you join? To stir the pot?

I’m with charlykilo on this one.
Bye Mike.

May the Force be with you Mr. Samples.

It seems the insignificant gains and losses of not believing and the chance of rotting in hell certainly out weigh the chance of believing. I’ll go with believing and pray for you.

Get well soon.

Lot's of those little worm thieves up here Jwid. Half the time they grab the worm and run away with it.

Chartreuse crappie spinner gets them.

Exactly, who has gas under $3. Even a bean burrito cost that.

My wife caught me. The fish I caught was pretty good too.

Y know, I've just become accustomed to holding my breath when I go out now. It just need a Merc specialist to look at it and they are scarce. Yesterday, temps dropped 30° after storms, so while mama rested, I went down for a while, thinkin surely the wave boats and jet skis wouldn't be out. But, noooooo. There they were, all, bundled up in winter garb makin 4' waves. Ugh. And it was kinda miserable on the water, super windy and misting. This is when I pause to wonder, 🤔 am I a devoted fisherman or just wacked in the head? Regardless, I was blessed with this little guy and some of his larger kin.

I had fun with these guys, rock bass or google eye. Good fight and hard hit.

Great picture.
Maybe trial and error on the boat might be cheaper than a specialist. Replace everything you can. Plugs, ignition, wires, etc. if it doesn’t work sell the parts on ebay and move on to the next.

Just found this, and its not good. This stuff is 15% which will void your outboard warranty and cars and trucks could burn up your motor by running so hot.

I’d be happy with the Super price. Gas is $4.49 per gallon regular here and I think some are paying more than me.
