Can't go wrong with a 4" finess worm in green pumpkin (magic) or watermelon red in sunshine. Have rigged on an offset hook texas rigged or on a circle hook nose rigged. Use light wire hooks to improve action. Also a fluke in same colors and rigged either way.
Better than a rubber chicken, lol.
Thanks to all for the tips.
Thanks for the tip. Some of our lakes here in central Texas also have some stripers and hybrids in addition to black and spotted bass.
Thanks. May have to buy a smaller size as my garage size is too big for my tackle bag. The garlic sprays use up quickly and everything and everyone on the boat smells Italian. I suspect it catches mostly Italian fish.
Most plastic baits are quite porous. The Berkley General baits and many others are infused with salt or attractants but it dissipates with use or if left on the hook between uses. Just want to soup it up to use it longer.
Have any of you tried injecting scents into soft plastic baits using a turkey baster? Thought it might last better than just smearing it on the outside. Any thoughts, ya'll?
U-rigs or Alabama rigs are legal in Texas. I haven't had a lot of success and it is very tiring with bad shoulder but some friends have lots of success especially if you catch the bass schooling. Put a larger bait on the center hook like a fish chasing smaller baitfish. Rig with braided line in case of multiple hookups. The longer the cast the better, of course. Cast past where you think the action is and drag through. Vary your retrieve to look like darting fish. Good luck!
About 60 years ago(yes I'm old) my brother and I were fishin' my G-pa's farm pond. We had caught a plate sized bluegill that took us all over the pond before landing her. Then we hooked somethin' BIG. It was a large snapping turtle. We got him to the bank, stuck a broom handle from the bed of an old '48 Chevy pickup in front which he immediately clamped on to and thru him in the bed. Took him to a neighbor who made soup out of him. Exciting for a 14 year old on a Zebco 33.
