I used to work with a gentleman named Bernie Buteau. Are you that gentleman? I only ask since you are Bernie B.

Use what is available. No need to reinvent the wheel every time you try something new. That's what my Uncle John always said and he was usually right most of the time.
Hi Folks. Harry from New Hampshire here. I primarily fish the Connecticut River near Brattleboro Vt. and have been reading all this advice saying the best time to bass fish is early spring as the water warms until the when the spawn begins, which is when the water temperature hits around 65 degrees. That's all well and good, but I have to drive over an hour to get to the Connecticut river which is a little far just to take a temperature measurement. So I was surfing the internet the other night and found out that the USGS provides a Connecticut river temperature indication from a location way up in north New Hampshire. That got me wondering during this period of government imposed isolation if the USGS also has a measuring station closer to the section of the river that I fish. I E-mailed them and they responded with a link to the closest station for my area. I checked it out and not only does it work, but it lets me do a historical water temperature graph of any past period and all kinds of stuff that may not do anything to improve my fishing, but it makes me feel better and gives me a little something back from my taxes (I paid a lot for that temperature indication). So, I just wanted to share that with you guys in case you are fishing bodies of water and would like to get water temperature information before you head out. I know the USGS monitors a wide variety of lakes and rivers across the US so maybe something close to your favorite spot is monitored by those guys too.
Ciao
Well,,,,,,,,,, boys, let me tell you about this morning.
If ya don't got a picture, the fish can be as big as you can convince someone it was. It's works for me.
Not yet, but I am right around the corner from the Souhegan River. I've been threatening to get in there one morning and try fly fishing it. Basically at this point I mainly go over and fish the Connecticut river. The Merrimack river kinda tempts me, but if I were to try it, I'd put in somewhere just above Concord.
When I write stuff like that, my boss calls security and I end up getting drug tested, AGAIN. But, it's a free country so have a ball my friend.
As my son would say "Dude, you need a girlfriend"! Jeeez.
According to the Florida freshwater fish guidelines, they say they are good eating and the only ones you have to return to the water are the ones that are over 17". That is because they are very aggressive and the larger ones will basically devour the other invasive species.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
We spent February at Satellite Beach Catch and a canal that connected to the Banana river was full of them and they were starting spawning. They looked just like that fish. I did a little investigation and I think it is a Tilapia. I suggest you catch one, take a picture, and post it. That will decide this debate. Plus, if you do catch it and it is a Tilapia, you've done a service to the state. I believe they are a catch and do not release invasive species.
Thank's. It'll be a good excuse to break out my fly rod. I appreciate the info and I'll let you know what the results are.

Hi Arizona
Never ever caught a Walleye. What would you use for bait, or lure?
Thanks
Harry
Yes. There are a wide variety of fish that have allowed me to catch them. I grew up fishing in Louisiana and didn't fish for about 40 years until I was about to retire, inherited my grandfathers boat and brought it up here. That's when I started fishing again and rediscovered something that I enjoyed. There are some really big fish in the river and I'm in the process of figuring out how to get the really big ones. I think I've figured out how to catch the really big bluegills. If it works this year, I'l share it with the fishing stage group. Feel free to keep in touch and let me know if you are thinking about coming up this way.

Hi Tony
I'm Harry, and I am in Amherst NH which is near Nashua. I mainly fish the Connecticut river in that stretch from Vermont Yankee up to the Brattleboro bridge (Rt. 119). If there is anything that I can share with you, let me know.
